Granite Falls mayor arrested at Sea-Tac Airport
SEATAC, Wash. -- The mayor of Granite Falls, Wash. was arrested Monday evening after allegedly shouting threats at a family member at Sea-Tac Airport.
Mayor Haroon Saleem was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence harassment, Granite Falls Police Chief Dennis Taylor confirmed.
Saleem was arrested by Port of Seattle police after witnesses said he was shouting threats in the baggage claim area of the airport. Officials said the dispute did not involve any physical contact.
Saleem, who was elected mayor of Granite Falls in 2009, is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
Taylor said his department will not be involved in the investigation, which is being handled by Port of Seattle police.
"They're going to do a fair and thorough job," he said.
