Creeping dhimmitude in America

Too many times now we have seen capitulation to Islamic threats by hotels and other places of gathering, the backbone of previous generations gone by the wayside. It is fashionable to crumble under the withering words, and possible actions from the "religion of the perpetually insulted" in order to maintain some semblance of....what, exactly I do not know. Peace? Order? Safety? What possibly could cause otherwise clear-thinking men and women to suddenly abandon all critical and ethical thinking skills in the name of preserving the peace? There is only one example that fits, that of fear of offending someone. Free speech is dead when we believe anything we say, or do will offend or insult even one person and we modify our speech to accommodate that perceived incorrect patter.

Islam is very good at intimidation, it happened to me when my class on Islam was cancelled by Lane Community College because of threats from CAIR. The college caved to Muslim muscle, fearful of their students and the possible physical clashes, rather than standing tall for free speech rights and the ability for people to say what they want without being scared of reprisals. Islam wants nothing less than a total ban on talking about Islamic doctrine, sharia, the Qur'an, jihad, polygamy, pedophilia, arranged marriages, sanctioned murder, unending warfare, persecution of non-Muslims, death for apostasy, women worth half that of a man, stonings and amputations, the list is almost endless of the topics within Islam which are taboo. By ignoring and penalizing dialogue which some find objectionable we run the risk of diluting the constitution and making it impossible for basic rights of free association and free inquiry to be upheld. Our civil liberties are being eroded by those who claim to be American and support our inherent rights, their behavior show otherwise.

Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller are now seen as pariahs with no redeeming value, and can be dismissed as such with the wave of the hand. Here are two articles with more depth and context than the MSM, which has not picked this story up. Hmmm...

Notice that the executive of the hotel chain finally tells WND that yes, the threats came from Muslims but had previous to that refused to say just who did the threatening. Claiming also that there was no knowledge of the content of the conference, although today most have heard of Spencer and Geller and the head of a major hotel chain should know how they are and what they stand for. Saying he didn't know is just insulting to his customers and the many who would have attended the event. The hotel also stated that they had checked with the ADL and the SPLC and found that Spencer and Geller were "extremists" and that they were part of a cabal who plan and operate "contentious" events. It is telling that the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League, both extreme in their own right would call two foremost defenders of freedom and democracy extreme and contentious.

We are at a crossroads, my friends, a crossroad which will determine whether we survive the next decade or two. We cannot allow the erosion of basic liberties at the expense of political correctness. By letting Islam dictate what is said in the public forum we put ourselves at their mercy. Allowing Islam to tell us what we can, and cannot talk about is abdicating our responsibilities to our founding principles. WE must not let the constitution be gutted for the sake of non-offense. Free speech rights and the first amendment are precisely and specifically geared to protect speech that is uncomfortable and against the grain. Speech we all agree with needs no protection, speech only Islam agrees with is a precedent that will destroy us as a society.

Support Spencer, Geller and the little people like myself, for if we are not allowed to say what we think, then next in line for censorship will be you.

Again! Americans gagged from talking about this

For the second time in less than a week, a major U.S. hotel has canceled an agreement to host an event on radical Islam's threat to America's freedoms, due to threatening messages to management.

ThePreserving Freedom Conference, scheduled for Nov. 11 at the top-rated Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., features Robert Spencer, author of 10 books about Islam and director ofJihad Watch, and Pamela Geller,a WND columnist, editor of theblog Atlas Shrugsand author of the book"Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance."WND is a co-sponsor of the conference.

Stephen Eckley, senior vice president of hotels for Amerimar Enterprises in Denver – the Hutton Hotel's managing corporation, told WND it was his decision to cancel the event.

Eckley said he "wasn't exactly sure what the content of the program was," but he explained that he canceled it because of the threat of physical harm to people at the hotel.

"They were veiled threats that there were going to be protests that could easily erupt into violence," he told WND in a telephone interview.

Sessions planned for the conference include "The European Experience" with Shariah, "Religious Persecution Under Shariah," "The Dehumanization and Diminishment of Women in the West Under Shariah," "The Muslim Brotherhood In America" and "Fighting Islamist Propaganda in the Media."

Spencer and Geller are co-founders of the activist groupStop Islamization of America, which helped lead opposition to the so-called Ground Zero mosque in New York City.

AsWND reported last week, the Hyatt Place Hotel in Sugar Land, Texas, near Houston, canceled a tea party event featuring Geller after complaints reportedly by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR.The D.C.-based Islamic group has sued the co-authorof a WND Books expose,"Muslim Mafia,"which documents CAIR's founding as a front for the Muslim Brotherhood, the parent of terrorist groups such as al-Qaida and Hamas.

Commenting on the Nashville cancellation on her Atlas Shrugs blog, Geller said Eckley "has caved to Islamic supremacist demands."

She warned that free speech, "the cornerstone of our constitutional republic, is in serious jeopardy."

Under the strict interpretations of Islamic law, or Shariah, practiced in many Muslim countries, she noted, criticism of Islam is punishable by death.

Geller said it's becoming increasingly apparent in the U.S. that "opposing the most radical and extreme ideology on the face of the earth is now forbidden in the war of ideas."

Spencer told WND the conference will go on.

"We will find a new venue," he said, "but the Hutton Hotel's capitulation to Islamic supremacist threats and intimidation is a disgrace and a disquieting reminder of just how much the freedom of speech is threatened in America today."

Nashville Hotel cancels conference over speakers deemed anti-Muslim 'extremists'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Nashville hotel has canceled a conference by the Sharia Awareness Action Network, saying it was concerned the speakers include "extremists" with a history of contentious events.

The "Preserving Freedom Conference" had been scheduled for Nov. 11 at the Hutton Hotel near downtown. The hotel in a statement Monday said it has to be "mindful of the safety, security and peace of mind of its guests."

The hotel cited reports by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center about speakers Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer of the group Stop Islamization of America, adding that they have "a history of controversy and contention surrounding their appearances."

A post on Geller's website said the hotel had "caved to Islamic supremacist demands" and urged supporters to call the hotel's management to complain.

Read them both, and see the contact information for the hotel here.
