Sweden becomes a dhimmi nation, gives in to Islamic non-integration

“It's about dealing with immigrants in a more dignified and little more civil manner,” says Malmo police chief Bengt Hersler, instead of saying "immigrants must deal with Swedish culture in a more dignified and civil manner" which would be the more salient statement to make.  It would appear the learning of language to better interact with a populace which speaks Swedish as their second language is a good thing.  However, Malmo has seen too much Islamic agitation recently, and this is just more side-stepping of the real issue.  Capitulation to Muslim requirements is just another step in the implementation of sharia, which is the goal of jihad.

Sweden, like England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and other European countries is letting go of it's historical roots in the name of getting along.  Giving in to Muslim demands does nothing to prevent the spread of Islam and only emboldens Islamists and jihadists to push even harder for concessions.  Sweden will fall, just as other European countries will fall, precisely because they see the looming problem but are unwilling to take the steps needed to stop their decline and eventual takeover by Islam.

If you do not identify the root of the problem you will never win the battle for your survival.

Malmö police to learn 'polite' Arabic

Police who patrol Malmö's Rosengård district are being offered a special Arabic language class to help them better understand and communicate with local residents in the predominantly immigrant area.

So far 45 officers have signed up for voluntary twelve-week class, which will provide training on a number of common greetings and pleasantries in Arabic, the local Skånska Dagbladet newspaper reports.

No report of any training or teaching Muslims "common greetings and pleasantries in Swedish".

“It's about dealing with immigrants in a more dignified and little more civil manner,” local police chief Bengt Hersler told the newspaper.

According to Hersler, the course was arranged at the request of officers who have pushed the department to provide them with the tools to better communicate with Rosengård's residents, many of whom are immigrants and have Swedish as a second language.

In addition to teachings in basic Arabic, the tailor-made course will also offer lessons on Muslim culture and traditions to help officers better understand some of the cultural differences that can lead to misunderstandings in dealings with local residents.

We're looking to broaden our knowledge, Said Hersler.

First read the Qur'an, that will give enough insight into what Islam is.  Then start reading all you can get your hands on from just about any author of note: Spencer, Shoebat, Warraq, Ali, Emerson, Chesler or even my treatise on Kindle* and you will gain insights into the Islamic mind that should help you understand the why and what that drives some Muslims to kill in the name of Allah.

"If this procedure is done by health professionals, then it has to be done in accordance with the ministerial instruction 1636, and this will guarantee the protection of the female reproductive system”

Moderate Muslim Indonesia practices FGM, or female genital mutilation and now with the government sanctioning the practice through the Ministry of Health the gruesome procedure could increase.  I have said this many times, but it bears repeating; where is the outcry from Muslims and Islamic scholars, and where are the feminists and lefties who claim they stand for all women in their fight for equality?  We hear how people like me are responsible for the actions of the Anders Breivik of the world, yet when a country's health department tacitly sanctions female genital mutilation their is no uproar or condemnation.  It's a cultural thing, we are told.  Well, if we do not stand for these women, what good is our culture?

Fears Indonesian Female Circumcision Guidelines Could Increase Practice

West Java. Guidelines on how to perform female genital mutilation/cutting issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health could cause an increase in the practice, medical experts and rights groups fear.

“This will give doctors a new motivation to circumcise [girls] because now they can say the Ministry of Health approves of this, and the Indonesian Council of Ulema [MUI] approves of it,” said Jurnalis Uddin, a doctor and lecturer at Yarsi University in Jakarta.

Though FGM/C was banned in 2006, two of Indonesia’s Muslim organizations, including the largest and mostly moderate, Nahdlatul Ulama, ultimately condone the practice advising “not to cut too much,” and, as a result, many continue to perform the procedure.

By directing health professionals not to cut a girl’s genitals but to “scrape the skin covering the clitoris, without injuring the clitoris”, the Ministry of Health stands by the regulations, passed in June, as a medically safe form of FGM/C representing an effort to further regulate the illegal practice and protect women.

But recent uproar has questioned this reasoning. Others are concerned the guidelines could well be misinterpreted as an endorsement of the procedure, combined with an enticement for doctors to encourage the practice, Uddin said.

“I think that doctors will use these guidelines to make money from circumcision,” Uddin said, adding that Indonesia’s poorly regulated medical practitioners often viewed medicine as a business.

FGM/C is typically done at birth, or before a girl is five years old and in the past was often performed by local healers, called dukun, or by birth attendants. Traditionally, FGM/C was mostly “symbolic” with a small cut on the clitoris, or rubbing the clitoris with tumeric root, making it less invasive than other types of FGM/C.

However, Uddin, who conducted an Indonesia-wide survey of FGM/C practices in 2009, said he had found that when medical practitioners performed the procedure, there was a trend toward more extensive cutting of the clitoris.

(...)Across Indonesia approximately 12 percent of female babies born in hospitals, birthing centres or assisted by government midwives have been circumcised, a figure that excludes FGM/C procedures done outside such facilities, Uddin said.

FGM/C remains a controversial practice, with debated origins. Religious experts say it is a foreign cultural practice not sanctioned in any of Islam’s religious texts.

Not true.  Here is the hadith;
"A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said to her: Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband." - Sunan Abu Dawud 41.5251 (Thanks to Jihad Watch)

Even a scratch or small cut on the clitoris is a dangerous procedure to perform on infants, say medical practitioners. Long-term consequences include bladder and urinary tract infections, as well as cysts and infertility.

The Ministry of Health argues it is not “legitimizing or legalizing” FGM/C with its standards but only trying to make the practice less risky by encouraging trained health professionals rather than traditional healers to perform the procedure.

Ahem.  By encouraging doctors to perform FGM as safely as possible in order to minimize damage, you are only justifying the practice under medically approved guidelines for a surgical procedure.  This stance, therefore is legitimizing FGM.

Iran speeds up uranium enrichment with new centrifuges

Sigh...more cat and mouse and more in-your-face thumbing by Iran on its nuclear program.  Someone better write another strongly worded memo, and increase the tempo of the finger-wagging.

Iran Has New Equipment to Speed the Production of Nuclear Fuel, Panel Is Told

WASHINGTON — International nuclear inspectors reported on Friday that Iran had finally begun operating a new generation of equipment that over time should give it the capability to produce nuclear fuel much faster, after years of delays made worse by Western sanctions and sabotage.

The equipment, new centrifuges that the inspectors described in a report circulated to members of the International Atomic Energy Agency, is intended to replace balky, breakdown-prone machines whose design Iran first bought from Abdul Qadeer Khan, a Pakistani who illicitly sold production equipment and bomb designs. Five years ago, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran declared that the machinery, which he claimed was made in Iran, would soon be deployed. It became clear that his boast was premature.

Iran has ignored four sets of United Nations Security Council resolutions to cease enriching uranium. But it took until this summer for the country to begin using 54 of the new centrifuges, which the Iranians call the IR-2 and claim were produced entirely in its own small factories.

Because the machines spin much faster than the models they are intended to replace, they could speed Iran’s ability to enrich large quantities of nuclear fuel. The Central Intelligence Agency, in its assessments of Iran’s capabilities, has expressed doubts that the machines shown to inspectors would be used for producing weapons-grade material, but they have warned that the installation at the uranium enrichment complex at Natanz might be intended to work out bugs and that Iran could have secret facilities.

They do, and it is protected underground.  The only weapon which could possibly be used to destroy this underground nuclear lab would be a nuclear bomb.  Welcome to the beginning of armageddon, folks.

“What worries us is not what the Iranians show the inspectors, but what it tells us about what they know how to produce,” one senior intelligence official said.

No jihadists in Brazil, says government...except when there is

There are followers of the "religion of the perpetually insulted" in virtually every country on the planet, the fact that Brazil thinks they are unique is really nothing more than denial.

Khaled Hussein Ali, who resides in Sao Paulo, supposedly working for al-Qaida is NOT a terrorist.  Remember that the next time Brazil makes a statement that there is no terrorism in Brazil.  Especially important to remember is that the upcoming 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games are to be held in Brazil, and if there is no terrorism then we should see jihad-free games.  It would be impossible for Ali to be in Brazil alone, just there for the waters.

Brazil denies terrorists operate within borders

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Khaled Hussein Ali lives in Sao Paulo and allegedly works for al-Qaida. But this does not mean he is a terrorist.

In fact, no one in Brazil is considered a terrorist.

Even as the world has cracked down hard on terror, some countries have refrained from adopting anti-terror laws. Their stance has racked up consternation at a time when terrorism is a global concern, especially with Brazil now set to host the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.

"Officially, Brazil does not have terrorism inside its borders," wrote Lisa Kubiske, then the U.S. deputy chief of mission in Brasilia, in an August 2009 cable released by WikiLeaks. "In reality, several Islamic groups with known or suspected ties to extremist organizations have branches in Brazil and are suspected of carrying out financing activities."

Several countries in Latin America resist anti-terror laws because they still hold fresh memories of state dictatorships that killed or spirited away thousands of political opponents in the 1970s and 80s

"These are places that had civil wars ... where the country ripped itself to pieces trying to fight terrorist organizations," said Princeton law professor Kim Lane Scheppele, who studies the global war on terror. "Once they got out of it and managed to put in place a democratic system, they said 'never again.'"

Countries such as Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina only recently adopted weakened versions of anti-terror laws focused on money laundering, to avoid being blacklisted by the world's financial system. Just one suspect in Argentina has been prosecuted under these laws to date.

In Brazil, President Dilma Rousseff was herself arrested and tortured for her militancy against the military dictatorship from 1964 and 1985; former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was arrested by the same regime, and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, the president before him, was exiled for his activism.

The lack of political will to go hard on terrorism is frustrating to American officials, as is suggested in cables released by WikiLeaks. For example, Brazil does not consider Hezbollah, Hamas or the Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia as terrorist organizations.

US tries to stall state vote on Palestine by the UN

Appealing to re-start peace talks, the Obama administration seems bent on going down the same road as predecessors past, with guaranteed the same results.  There is no peace to be had as long as the refugees demand Israel give up their sovereignty by bisecting Israel and  creating a two-state solution, nor will Israel give up any more land for a brief glimmer of peace.  The refugees do not deserve any part of Israel as their land, they need to take back what was theirs in 1948: Most of southern Jordan and a small sliver of Syria.  That was the parcel promised by UN181, and the parcel the Arab League refused to accept, as long as Israel existed.  I support the US in this decision, I am afraid we will ultimately fail in getting the statehood vote shelved, or even delayed.

There are many reasons why Palestine does not deserve to be a state, the least is Hamas and their public statements of genocide towards Israel and Jews.  How statehood could be granted to a bunch of Islamic thugs, giving legitimacy to those wanting you and I dead, is beyond rational thinking.  The UN, in the past has proven that rational thinking is not one of their strong suits.

U.S. Is Appealing to Palestinians to Stall U.N. Vote

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has initiated a last-ditch diplomatic campaign to avert a confrontation this month over a plan by Palestinians to seek recognition as a state at the United Nations, but it may already be too late, according to senior American officials and foreign diplomats.

The administration has circulated a proposal for renewed peace talks with the Israelis in the hopes of persuading the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, to abandon the bid for recognition at the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly beginning Sept. 20.

The administration has made it clear to Mr. Abbas that it will veto any request presented to the United Nations Security Council to make a Palestinian state a new member outright.

But the United States does not have enough support to block a vote by the General Assembly to elevate the status of the Palestinians’ nonvoting observer “entity” to that of a nonvoting observer state. The change would pave the way for the Palestinians to join dozens of United Nations bodies and conventions, and it could strengthen their ability to pursue cases against Israel at the International Criminal Court.

Senior officials said the administration wanted to avoid not only a veto but also the more symbolic and potent General Assembly vote that would leave the United States and only a handful of other nations in the opposition. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss diplomatic maneuverings, said they feared that in either case a wave of anger could sweep the Palestinian territories and the wider Arab world at a time when the region is already in tumult. President Obama would be put in the position of threatening to veto recognition of the aspirations of most Palestinians or risk alienating Israel and its political supporters in the United States.

Threat noted.

“If you put the alternative out there, then you’ve suddenly just changed the circumstances and changed the dynamic,” a senior administration official involved in the flurry of diplomacy said Thursday. “And that’s what we’re trying very much to do.”

Efforts to head off the Palestinian diplomatic drive have percolated all summer but have taken on urgency as the vote looms in the coming weeks. “It’s not clear to me how it can be avoided at the moment,” said Ghaith al-Omari, a former Palestinian negotiator who is now executive director of the American Task Force on Palestine in Washington. “An American veto could inflame emotions and bring anti-American sentiment to the forefront across the region.”

As if tensions there are not rooted in anti-American sentiment, the obvious is stated.

Water-pistol "rebels" arrested in Iran, Western morals blamed

Of course it's the fault of the West for these young people to be wetting each other, in defiance of Islamic norms.  Mingling of the sexes is forbidden in Islam, and putting male and female together when moist is just downright anti-Muhammad.

There is a precedent for this crackdown and it started way back in 1979 when the Ayatollah Khomeini said "There is no fun in Islam"

From The Jerusalem Post August 4

Iranian police arrest water pistol 'rebels'

Iranian police have started cracking down on water fights springing up across the country with the arrests of several young men and women who took part in the latest organized water pistol battles.

A water fight in a Tehran park on Friday, thought to have been organized through social media websites, was broken up by police who arrested several of the revelers, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Sunday.

"Some of these rebels who intended to play water fight were arrested by police on Friday," Ahmadreza Radan, Tehran's deputy police chief, told Mehr.

Mingling between sexes outside marriage is banned in Iran and conservatives in the Islamic Republic have been scandalized by scenes of dozens of youngsters spraying each other with water in public.

Various websites have posted photographs of girls and boys in wet clothes throwing water balloons, firing water guns and splashing each other with water from bottles after the first water fights were reported in the capital a few weeks ago.

Oh the humanity of it all!  People laughing and giggling in public while they cool each other off with sprays of water.  Oh the horror!

The fights have since spread across the country despite warnings from authorities.

They are seen as the latest manifestation of youthful rebellion by Iranians against Islamic norms which require women to cover their hair in public and wear loose-fitting clothes, and where much Western entertainment is banned due to what is considered law morality.

Conservatives say the water fights must be stamped out to prevent what they say is the corruption of Iranian youths, much of which is blamed on a deliberate "soft war" by the West conducted through TV, films and pop music.

This is a sick society which needs to change dramatically as soon as possible.

More evidence of Irans nuclear ambitions...and the world yawns

This is getting silly, and very dangerous.  Will there be another, even stronger-worded memo to Iran from the UN, or will we see the UN in inaction once again?

Your guess is as good as mine at this point.  When the world wakes up one morning to see a mushroom cloud over the desert of Iran, the reaction will be one of "what happened?  We wrote the strongly worded memo..."

More useless prattling from those who are supposed to be in charge.  Knucklehead idiots, all of them.

UN: Credible evidence Iran working on nuke weapons

VIENNA (AP) — The U.N. nuclear agency said Friday it is "increasingly concerned" about a stream of intelligence suggesting that Iran continues to work secretly on developing a nuclear payload for a missile and other components of a nuclear weapons program.

In its report, the International Atomic Energy Agency said "many member states" are providing evidence for that assessment, describing the information it is receiving as credible, "extensive and comprehensive."

The restricted 9-page report was made available Friday to The Associated Press, shortly after being shared internally with the 35 IAEA member nations and the U.N. Security Council. It also said Tehran has fulfilled a pledged made earlier this year and started installing equipment to enrich uranium at a new location — an underground bunker that is better protected from air attack than its present enrichment facilities.

Enrichment can produce both nuclear fuel and fissile warhead material, and Tehran — which says it wants only to produce fuel with the technology — is under four sets of U.N. Security Council sanctions for refusing to freeze enrichment, which it says it needs for fuel only.

It also denies secretly experimenting with a nuclear weapons program and has blocked a four-year attempt by the IAEA to follow up on intelligence that it secretly designed blueprints linked to a nuclear payload on a missile, experimented with exploding a nuclear charge, and conducted work on other components of a weapons program.

In a 2007 estimate, the U.S. intelligence community said that while Iran had worked on a weapons program such activities appeared to have ceased in 2003. But diplomats say a later intelligence summary avoided such specifics, and recent IAEA reports on the topic have expressed growing unease that such activities may be continuing.

The phrase "increasingly concerned" has not appeared in previous reports discussing Iran's alleged nuclear weapons work and reflects the frustration felt by IAEA chief Yukiya Amano over the lack of progress in his investigations.

His report said that choice of language is due to the "possible existence in Iran of past or current undisclosed nuclear related activities" linked to weapons work. In particular, said the report, the agency continues to receive new information about "activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile."

Acquired from "many" member states, the information possessed by the IAEA is "extensive and comprehensive ... (and) broadly consistent and credible," said the report.

Former MI5 boss wants Al Qaeda settlement

The former head of MI5, Britain's intelligence unit, says she hopes the UK and US are looking at different ways to talk to Al Qaeda.

Eliza Manningham-Buller, who ran MI5 until 2007, has used a BBC lecture to say she hopes British and US intelligence are examining who to talk to within Al Qaeda, as well as how and what could be discussed.

But she says negotiations are still a way off.

Baroness Manningham-Buller says military and security responses to terrorism can only go so far and eventually a political settlement with terror groups is needed.

She says the September 11 attacks were "a crime, not an act of war".

This is what fear to confront an ideology will result in.  Wish into the cornfield that which scares you and hope it will go away.  Hope is not a tactic, it is a surrender.

She adds she has always found the phrase "war on terror" unhelpful, saying the Iraq invasion was a distraction in the West's pursuit of Al Qaeda.

The adaptable jihadist

There will never be another 9-11 in that hijacked passenger airplanes will crash into large buildings, but the concept of using a flying machine of some kind to wreak havoc on the infidel has never escaped the jihadists thinking.  That Boeing 737 may soon be supplanted by the lowly and plentiful Cessna 152.  Cheap, easy to fly and virtually undetectable at very low altitude they are the Chevy of general aviation aircraft.  The requirements to learn are much simpler than a large plane, one can even teach themselves through the 'net.

Will there be some kind of parameters under which law enforcement can watch potential jihadists, say looking for Middle Eastern-looking males between the ages of 18 and 35?  Or maybe, since there is growing evidence of Western-looking males being recruited to jihad, to look more closely at those who used to be named Oscar McDonald but are now known as Ahmed Abu Tamimi.

Oh wait, that would be Islamophobic and intolerant, and we can't have that now, can we?

Terror warning: Al-Qaida looks to load explosives on small planes

WASHINGTON — The FBI and Homeland Security have issued a nationwide warning about al-Qaida threats to small airplanes, just days before the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Authorities say there is no specific or credible terrorist threat for the 10-year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. But they have stepped up security nationwide as a precaution.  According to a five-page law enforcement bulletin issued Friday, as recently as early this year, al-Qaida was considering ways to attack airplanes.

The alert issued ahead of the summer's last busy travel weekend, said terrorists have considered renting private planes and loading them with explosives.

(...)Aviation security is much tighter than it was a decade ago, but al-Qaida remains keenly interested in launching attacks on airplanes, believing large attacks with high body counts are more likely to grab headlines.

Yet the denial that Islamic texts and tenets play the most important role in what drives jihadists, and that it is Islamic doctrine at the heart of the problem will serve no useful purpose in thwarting potential attacks.  If we do not understand what drives our enemies we can never defeat them.

By the way, notice how we must rely on a British news source to find out what is going on here at home with Islam and jihad?

Homegrown terror threat: Muslim-Americans playing 'prominent roles' in Al Qaeda and threatening more attacks on home soil, reveals 9/11 report card

Homegrown terrorists are playing increasingly prominent roles within Al Qaeda and are threatening more deadly attacks from within the U.S., the much anticipated 9/11 report card revealed today.

As the 10th anniversary of the devastating attacks on New York approaches, the National Security Preparedness Group issued a stinging assessment of just how far the U.S. needs to go to combat terror threats.

Airport security is still not thorough enough to stop a large-scale air bombing, the report claimed and, even more worryingly, the greatest threat to national security may well be coming from America itself, with the frighteningly common radicalisation of Muslim-American teens.

The report, issued today, stated: 'Most troubling, we have seen a pattern of increasing terrorist recruitment of American citizens and residents to act as “lone wolves"...

'Today, we know that Americans are playing increasingly prominent roles in al Qaeda’s movement.

'Muslim-American youth are being recruited in Somali communities in Minneapolis and Portland, Oregon, in some respects moving the front lines to the interior of our country.'

In recent years, there has been a jump in the number of attacks on the U.S. by homegrown Muslim-Americans.

In 2009, there were two of these high-profile terrorist attacks in the U.S.

13 people were killed and 29 injured in the Fort Hood shooting, the sole suspect for which is Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. born Palestinian who faces the death penalty for the charges.

He was an Army major serving as a psychiatrist who was shot when taken into custody and is now paralysed from the chest down.

The same year, a U.S. military recruiter was killed in Little Rock, Arkansas and another man injured.

Muslim convert Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad was said by police to have confessed to the killing of Private William Long, saying he had been sent to kill as many soldiers as possible by Al Qaeda.

The report said particularly worrying was the 'self-radicalisation' of Muslim youth in America.

'This process is often influenced by blogs and other online content advocating violent Islamist extremism,' it stated.

'While there are methods to monitor some of this activity, it is simply impossible to know the inner thinking of every at-risk person. Thus, self-radicalisation poses a serious emerging threat in the U.S.'

The report card added that despite the government spending billions of dollars on airport security, scanners still cannot reliably detect bombs which could bring down planes.

Among concerns raised were ones about full body scanners, which , aside from raising privacy concerns, cannot see explosives hidden within the body.

'Explosives detection technology lacks reliability and lags in its capability to automatically identify concealed weapons and explosives,' the report claimed.

'The next generation of whole body scanning machines also are not effective at detecting explosives hidden within the body.'

It added: 'Although Osama bin Laden is dead, al Qaeda is not.'

Two Pakistani Christians Seriously Injured for Refusing Islam

Two Christian men were seriously injured by young Muslim men this month in Karachi when they refused to convert to Islam, a family member told Compass.

Liaqat Munawar, a resident of Essa Nagri in Karachi, told Compass by telephone that his brother, Ishfaq Munawar, and another young Christian man, Naeem Masih, were returning home after an early morning prayer service at their church in Sohrab Goth on Aug. 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day, when ethnic Pashtun youths near Sea View harassed and later attacked them.

“Ishfaq and Naeem were riding a motorcycle when six Pashtun youths signaled them to stop,” Liaqat Munawar said. “They asked the two boys to identify themselves. Ishfaq told them that they were Christians returning from their church after a special prayer service.”

The Muslims asked them why they were in Sea View, and they replied that they had made a brief stopover to participate in Independence Day celebrations at the beach, he said.

“The Pashtun youths then started questioning them about their faith and later tried to force them to recite the Kalma [Islamic conversion creed] and become Muslims, telling them that this was the only way they could live peacefully in the city,” Liaqat Munawar said. “They also offered monetary incentives and ‘protection’ to Ishfaq and Naeem, but the two refused to renounce Christianity.”

After cajoling the two Christians for some time, the Pashtuns sat in a white car parked nearby and eventually drove away. Ishfaq Munawar and Masih got back onto their motorcycle and were about to start it, Liaqat Munawar said, when suddenly the young Muslims reversed their car and rammed it into the Christians.

“The Muslims got out of the car armed with iron rods and attacked Ishfaq and Naeem, shouting that they should either recite the Kalma or be prepared to die,” Liaqat Munawar said.

He said the Pashtuns severely beat the two Christians, fracturing Ishfaq Munawar’s jaw and breaking five teeth, and seriously injuring Masih. He added that the two Christians fell unconscious, and the young Muslim men left assuming they had killed them.

Liaqat Munawar said his brother underwent jaw surgery at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and is now recovering. He said the family had not registered a case with police, fearing reprisal by the Muslims, but were now considering filing a formal complaint.

Nothing like the fear of reprisals from the relgion of peace.

APNewsBreak: Nigeria government freed bomb suspect

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Nigeria detained and released several radical Muslims suspected of being terrorists in 2007 — including a man who officials now say helped organize last week's deadly car bombing at the United Nations headquarters in the nation's capital, a high-ranking official told The Associated Press.

The men arrested four years ago had allegedly been caught with explosives. Their rapid release from detention was apparently aimed at placating Muslim groups, but it has now come back to haunt security officials who fear a growing wave of al-Qaida-linked terror attacks in Nigeria, a main supplier of oil to the United States.

No kidding, really?

Some of those arrested in October 2007 were even plotting to carry out attacks in the United States and to attack American targets here, in Africa's most populous country, said the official, who claimed direct knowledge of the arrests. He spoke on condition of anonymity due to the political sensitivity of the case and because he is not authorized to discuss the matter with journalists.

Nigeria remains very sensitive to any suggestion it is a haven for terrorists, and the information released at the time of the arrests was fairly vague. It was not immediately clear if Nigeria shared information about the purported anti-U.S. plots with U.S. officials. The U.S. embassy had no immediate comment Thursday.

However, in a report on global terror threats, the State Department said diplomats issued a warning to U.S. citizens in 2007 about possible attacks on U.S. and Western interests in Nigeria. It also noted that Nigerian authorities said they arrested at least 10 suspected terrorists in northern Nigeria late that year with alleged ties to al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb.

Chinese Qur'ans: 72 Virginians?

Seriously, the outsourcing of printing to China has it's pitfalls, not the least of which is the ability of the Chinese to screw up the simplest syntax or grammatical structure. I would imagine the Qur'an would be that much harder, as Arabic is a tough language to interpret correctly.

Iran says cheap "Made in China" Qurans full of typos

Iran's Organization of the Holy Quran is scolding Iranian publishers who've outsourced production of the holy book to Chinese printers.

Apparently, their copies of the Quran are riddled with typos, according to the Tehran Times.

"These tableaus are made quite cheaply in China but are sold for much more than they are really worth to make that much more profit," said an official with the organization who monitors and evaluates Qurans available in Iran.

The official even urged importers to halt future Quran shipments from China, the Times reported.

If you're keeping score at home, China is accused of shipping out seafood laden with putrefying bacteria, toys laden with lead, totally fake eggs and, now, tainted Qurans.

Protests disrupt Proms concert by Israel Philharmonic

Protesters have disrupted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's BBC Proms concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Several demonstrators in the hall shouted as Zubin Mehta stood to conduct Bruch's violin concerto. Many other audience members booed in response.

BBC Radio 3 said it had to interrupt its live broadcast twice "as a result of sustained audience disturbance".

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign had earlier called on people to boycott the concert and urged the BBC to cancel it.

In a statement published on its website ahead of the Proms, the pro-Palestinian group claimed the IPO showed "complicity in whitewashing Israel's persistent violations of international law and human rights".

The BBC Proms Team tweeted: "We're sorry that the concert was taken off air following hall disturbance. Glad both pieces were heard by the audience in the RAH."

It later added: "We regret that as a result of sustained audience disturbance tonight's concert was taken off BBC Radio 3."\

The performance, which consisted of four parts, was interrupted at about 19:45 BST and coverage was cut off again an hour later after more protests.

A spokeswoman for BBC Proms said it appeared each piece had been targeted by different protesters seated around the hall.

She said the broadcaster was "disappointed" the coverage had been taken off air but said the performance had continued in the hall.

About 30 people were removed by security but there were no arrests and no violence, she said.

The BBC's Tom Symonds said: "As Zubin Mehta stood up and began each piece a small group of protesters each time tried to stop the music.

"They sang, they shouted, they were met by boos by the audience and they had to be removed by the security staff."

Outside the concert hall a group of about 20 campaigners waved banners and sang songs in protest against the appearance of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO).

Several pro-Israeli groups met them with their own protest outside, our correspondent said.

He said it had been a "pretty disruptive" but the orchestra was said to have "taken it all in their stride and had smiles on their faces".

France: A Palestinian state would be too dangerous, says Sarkozy

DonatePalestinian statehood bid 'dangerous': France

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said Friday that a bid by Palestinians to win UN recognition as a state would risk triggering a dangerous diplomatic confrontation.

Palestinians, frustrated by the failure of the frozen US-sponsored peace process with Israel, plan to campaign for recognition at the UN General Assembly later this month.

"France hopes that they use the occasion for reopening the path to dialogue rather than risking a futile and dangerous diplomatic confrontation," Juppe told an annual gathering of French ambassadors.

Only eight Iraqi Jews in Baghdad in 2009: cable

Baghdad's Jewish community numbered just eight people in late 2009, having fallen from 20 in 2003 due to deaths from old age and sectarian violence, and emigration, a leaked US diplomatic cable says.
A woman who spoke with a US embassy staff member in October 2009 said "there are now eight remaining members of the Iraqi Jewish community in Baghdad," including herself, according to the cable released by whistleblower website Wikileaks.

"She stated that the community had numbered 20 persons in 2003, but that the number has declined as a result of old age, emigration, and sectarian violence," according to the cable.

It said the woman, a dentist, was "one of the last remaining Jews in Iraq."

Her mother, she said, had died in the previous year, while her husband was kidnapped by Al-Qaeda-affiliated militants in 2005, and was most likely murdered.

The woman expressed interest in emigrating to the Netherlands, where two of her brothers lived.

She said a synagogue and Jewish cemetery in Baghdad have been shut since 2004.

But another synagogue in the southern port city of Basra had been turned into a warehouse.

When asked about Iraqi Jews living abroad returning to visit or re-establish connections here, the woman "was pessimistic, saying that latent anti-Semitism within Iraqi society would prevent this from happening anytime soon."

There were about 150,000 Iraqi Jews before the 1948 creation of Israel. But between 1948 and 1951, nearly all of the country's 2,500-year-old Jewish community fled amid a region-wide outbreak of nationalist violence.

Islam: abusing women and children since 610AD

30 kids kidnapped by Islam, but for what?  No word on ransom, so we do not know why they were taken.  Sure the article says they wandered into an area they were not supposed to be in, but that excuse has already been used in Iran.

This is outrageous, but the MSM will surely get right on this and report on this travesty against innocent children.

Officials: Taliban Take 30 Pakistani Children Hostage In Afghanistan
Pakistani officials say Taliban militants in Afghanistan have taken hostage around 30 Pakistani children who crossed the border by mistake.

They said the incident took place on September 1 after the group of boys, aged between 12 and 18, visited an area of Pakistan's Bajaur tribal region for celebrations marking the Muslim Eid holiday when they crossed into the Afghan province of Kunnar and were abducted.

It was not clear whether the militants were of Afghan origin or Pakistani Taliban.

Either one practices Islam as laid doown by Muhammad so it really doesn't matter which one it is.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik reportedly has contacted the Afghan government and requested it to take measures to secure the release of the children.

US arrests Pakistani on terror support charges

A Pakistani man who received commando training from Islamist militants before moving to a Washington suburb has been arrested and charged with providing support to a terror group, US officials said Friday.

Jubair Ahmad, 24, stands accused of providing material support to the powerful Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, designated by the US government as a foreign terrorist organization, and then lying about his involvement to investigators.

War is deceit.

According to an unsealed affidavit by a Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent, Ahmad produced and posted a propaganda video for LeT "glorifying violent jihad" in 2010, some three years after he arrived in the United States with his parents and two younger brothers.

"Terrorist organizations such as LeT, and movements affiliated with them, use the Internet and other media as part of well orchestrated propaganda campaigns," the agent stated in the affidavit released by the US Justice Department.

"These campaigns seek to recruit individuals to participate in violent jihad and to promote the spread of terror."

Ahmad faces up to 23 years in prison if convicted on the two charges.

The department said the FBI had been investigating Ahmad, a legal permanent resident living in the state of Virginia, since 2009, after receiving information that the man might be linked to LeT.

The FBI later learned that, as a teen, Ahmad received "indoctrination and training from LeT while he lived in Pakistan," and that from the United States he communicated with the son of the extremist group's founder Hafiz Saeed.

No Jesus movie in Indonesia

No you may not show that movie about tolerance of other religions in a "moderate" Muslim country.  How dare you try to convert people away from Islam by showing them stories from the Bible(gasp!)

How dare you!  We are insulted, and we will show you how much we are insulted by killing and maiming you.

Take that, infidel!

Muslim extremists against movie that promotes tolerance and dialogue

Jakarta (AsiaNews) – The Islamic Defender Front (FPI), an extremist Muslim organisation, is promoting a protest campaign against SCTV, a Jakarta-based private TV station, for scheduling “?”, a movie deemed offensive to Muslims that was directed by a young talented filmmaker, Hanung Bramantyo. Even though, the movie tells a story about tolerance and respect between Indonesia’s various religious groups, the FPI and other Islamist groups say it “pollutes the morality” of Indonesian Muslims.

Jakarta FPI leader Habib Salim Alatas warned the SCTV management that thousands of Muslims would join to demonstrate in front of the TV station should it broadcast the movie Monday night.

Released in April, “?” was recently attacked by the Indonesian Ulema Movement (MUI), which issued a fatwa ordering Muslims not to see it because of its misleading content and its suggestion that there is another ‘God’ beside the one recognised and worshipped within Islam.

Filmmaker Hanung Bramantyo has called on TV executives not to give in to extremist pressures because doing so would mean accepting a patent violation of freedom of expression.

The FPI is not new to threats. In recent weeks, FPI extremists attacked members of the Ahmadi community, a sect viewed as heretical by mainstream Muslims, in Makassar (southern Sulawesi).

In a similar incident, Muslim extremists attack street vendors in Bandung (West Java) for selling alcoholic beverages.

In the recent past, human rights activists have slammed the Indonesian government for doing nothing against extremists.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has been especially targeted for criticism because of his failure to take decisive action to stem the rise of Islamists, who are now able to make any claim they want.

Now, just before the end of Ramadan and Idul Fitri on Tuesday, extremists want to censor TV broadcasting.

Mayor Bloomberg insults America by prohibiting clergy, prayer and first responders from the upcoming 9-11 memorial

The audacity of this man is beyond the pale.  His total belief in multiculturalism and his fear of Islam combine to insult the tens of thousands of first responders and clergy, making the memorial to 9-11 so much the sham.  Bloomberg believes that if he has only Christians or Jews to give an invocation, Muslims and their lapdogs will get angry, possibly leading to violence and we just can't have any of that.  The disconnect between what is right and what is convenient is staggering, Bloomberg takes his fear of Muslims and projects it upon the people, giving them nothing useful to think about but increasing their own misgivings about Islam and Muslims ten-fold.

I understand the refusal to allow a local imam or cleric to say an Islamic prayer, after all we were attacked by Islam on 9-11.  But to take it to the level that any prayer will upset someone is outrageous and dangerous.  The tragedy of 9-11 is an American experience, uniquely ours and a integral part of our culture now and for years to come.  The idea that we should bend to another religious sensibility for the sake of "getting along" makes no sense, and to do so dilutes the deep connections we all have to a milestone of history.

Islam has but one connection to 9-11, that of the perpetrator.  In no way should their feelings, sensibilities or beliefs intrude into our remembrance and in no way should they be allowed to be a part of our collective grieving.  Also, Islam in no way should influence how we remember 9-11 or what we do and say on that day, the only part Islam needs to play is that of the enemy who, on a beautiful September day removed our blinders and let us see what is really behind the "religion of peace".

Mayor Bloomberg is a travesty to the ideals and values of America, may his reign end quickly.

Here are two articles, read them sitting down.

Bloomberg Bans All Clergy from 9/11 Ceremony

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has rightly come under withering criticism for banning all clergy and all prayer at this year’s 9/11 commemoration ceremony. It is inexcusable for the mayor to ban prayer at a solemn event of this magnitude, a tragedy that deeply affected all Americans. The faith of millions of Americans in God sustained them on that day and the days that followed, and churches were packed the Sunday following 9/11 with people looking to their pastors for spiritual comfort and guidance.

So why would Mayor Bloomberg stick his thumb in the eye of every believing American? His ban contravenes all of American history, in which political leaders have persistently turned to prayer in moments of crisis, beginning with the first session of the Continental Congress that gave us the Declaration of Independence. His ban on prayer is both misguided and politically stupid. Why would he do it?

Here’s my suggestion. Multiculturalism has so infected Mayor Bloomberg’s view of America that if he allowed anybody to pray he would feel compelled to include a Muslim imam on the platform, praying a Muslim prayer and invoking the Muslim god at whose direction the 9/11 hijackers killed 3000 Americans in cold blood.

He knows the American people would never stand for that. But if he held the ceremony and allowed only Christian pastors and Jewish rabbis to pray, he’d get hammered by secular fundamentalists, muliticulturalists and Muslim advocates for playing favorites.

Better, he thought, to outrage the vast majority of Christians who believe in Jesus than to offend his tiny, fringe-dwelling winger-left fan club.

So his bottom line apparently is this: If Muslims can’t pray, nobody gets to pray.

As an aside, the mayor’s bloviation about the government not playing favorites when it comes to religion is just bilge. He’s clearly playing favorites, and his favoritism is heavily stacked toward Muslims. He is vigorously defending the building of the offensive Ground Zero mosque while his administration at the same time is doing everything in its power to keep the Orthodox church that was destroyed on 9/11 from being rebuilt.

But there is no cultural, historical or constitutional reason why clergy participation on 9/11 should not be reserved for Christians and Jews. This is for one simple reason: this nation was founded on the Judeo-Christian tradition and on faith in the God revealed in the Old and New Testaments. It has always been this God to whom Americans have turned in times of danger, and there is no reason why this God should not be the God to whom prayers are offered on 9/11.

Muslims, meanwhile, pray to a different god. Their god, they insist, has no son. The God of Christians, of course, does have a Son. Paul frequently opens his epistles by making it clear that the God to whom he prays is the “God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Cor. 1:3), to distinguish the God of the Scriptures, the true and living God, from all the Roman gods.

This God, the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, is the God to whom the Founders prayed. It is this God who is the source of “the Laws of Nature” and is in fact “Nature’s God.” This God is the “Creator” who is the source of our “unalienable rights.” They even dated the Declaration of Independence from the year of Christ’s birth, and referred to him in so doing as “our Lord.”

So can public officials restrict public prayers to prayers directed to the God of the Founders? Absolutely. In fact, you can’t get any more American than praying to the same God to which they appealed as the “Supreme Judge of the World.”

It’s a travesty that Mayor Bloomberg is so confused and clueless about America’s history, and so confused and clueless about the threat Islam poses to the West, that he seems to think that if everybody can’t pray, nobody gets to pray.

It’s time to get completely over this mindless obsession with diversity and return to the faith of our Founding Fathers. And the time to start is with this year’s 9/11 ceremony.

Next, the first responders take a hit...

9/11 First Responders Not Invited to Tenth Anniversary Ceremony

For those that may not know of Father Mychal Judge, he was the first officially recognized fatality of terrorist attacks in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001. He was killed when the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed just before 10:00 that morning as he was reportedly praying for the safety of first responders among others.

I prefer to believe that Father Judge is not rolling over in his grave these days.

I say that because of recent reports that those very first responders for which Father Judge prayed that morning are apparently not invited by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to the World Trade Center site to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, citing “space constraints.”

As a result, I offer the following memo to Mayor Bloomberg: Are you fucking kidding me? Space constraints? Really? Exactly how far up your ass have you planted your thumb, you wretched little prick?

I must not have been paying attention when news of this situation originally broke. When my dad told me about it, I admittedly thought he either misread something online or that there was more to whatever he might have seen on TV about it. I figured that a corrected version of the story would be reported somewhere. Maybe if I clicked my heels twice and said, “There’s no place like home,” whatever Twilight Zone we were in would vanish.

This story had to be a mistake.

Unfortunately, it actually is no mistake, and Bloomberg has specifically not invited the surviving 9/11 first responders to Ground Zero for the 10th anniversary memorial service.

To make up for it, the city of New York announced early last week that “they’ll be invited to a private ceremony on a different date.”

The New York Daily News then reported on Friday that “they will be permitted to watch the remembrance on video screens installed at nearby Zuccotti Park” according to Bloomberg himself the day before.

Well, gee whiz, Mr. Mayor. That’s mighty generous of you, boy howdy. There’s sure as hell nothing nicer than making the surviving men and women whose jobs were to, without hesitation, run into the very face of danger and rescue scores of people inside those buildings watch the ceremony on a video screen from a park almost a quarter of a mile away from the actual site.

Just to sugar coat things a little more, a spokesman for the mayor, Andrew Brent, said that “given the space constraints, we’re working to find ways to recognize and honor first responders, and other groups, at different places and times.” Hell, why don’t we just wait until February 2 and have all the first responders gather in Punxsutawney, Pa. so we can honor them and Punxsutawney Phil at the same time?
