Mubarak says he will step down....soon, maybe in September

Between now and September many things can affect how this decision plays out, but it is really no decision at all, as far as Egyptians are concerned.  They want regime change now, not 7 months from now.  Mubarak is only making this statement to gain some breathing room.  He is not in a position at the moment to dictate to the people what will be done, he is only required to stand down and walk away.  Some are calling for his arrest and a trial, but that is doubtful as he has too many friends across the globe, and will find a safe haven if he leaves soon.

We shall see if this mollifies the crowds, somehow I believe it will agitate them even further.  Mubarak may end up with his head on a fence if he keeps playing this kind of dangerous game with the people.

Egyptian President Mubarak to Step Down in September

BREAKING: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak says he will not run for a new term in office in September elections and will work during the rest of his term for a "peaceful transfer of power" in a new attempt to defuse massive protests demanding his immediate ouster.

In a speech aired on state TV Tuesday night, Mubarak said, "In all sincerity, regardless of the current circumstances, I never intended to be a candidate for another term."

Uh huh...
