Merry Christmas from Boko Haram

"...the attack occurred after Friday afternoon prayers in a market near a mosque in the city of Maiduguri."

Nigeria: Gunmen kill 2 in restive NE; death toll rises to 42 in Xmas attacks blamed on sect

LAGOS, Nigeria — Gunmen killed two civilians in a northeast Nigeria town plagued by attacks from a radical Muslim sect, an official said Friday, as a hospital official said one more person died from
Christmas attacks blamed on the sect, raising the toll to 42.
Military spokesman Lt. Col. Hassan Ifijeh Mohammed told The Associated Press that the attack occurred after Friday afternoon prayers in a market near a mosque in the city of Maiduguri. Mohammed said the gunmen wounded a third person.

He said authorities believe the incident could either be a robbery attempt or another attack by a feared radical sect known as Boko Haram which has carried out a series of attacks and assassinations in the area.

Ali Goma'a in Egypt: There is no persecution of Christians but Islam and sharia should continue to guide the "new" Egypt

Al-Azhar University is the seat of Sunni power, and the source of guidance for Sunni's world-wide.  Ali Goma'a is the top guy, the head Islamic honcho at Al-Azhar, and when he speaks, Muslims listen.  Goma'a says there is no problems with Christians, that any unrest involving Christians is "...not a sectarian problem. This is a procedural problem."

I would argue the procedural problem is with Islamic doctrine and how it guides Muslims in their behavior towards non-Muslims.  No matter how Goma'a spins, the fact is that Christians are being rapidly moved out, murdered or made to disappear from a land they inhabited for thousands of years.  There is no persecution of Christians in Egypt, there is now only genocide.

This is Islam.

Egypt mufti denies discrimination, plays down Islamists

Egypt's highest Islamic legal official denied on Tuesday that minority Christians faced sectarian discrimination and said Islamists would win no more than 20 percent of votes in next week's election.
Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa said Egypt had done its best to abolish discrimination against Copts, who make up 10 percent of Egypt's population of roughly 80 million, but a small minority of radical Salafi Islamists were causing trouble.
Coptic leaders accuse the army of not protecting them against Salafi attacks and cracking down more harshly on their protests than others. About 25 died last month when army trucks charged a mostly Coptic protest in Cairo.
"There is no real problem," said Gomaa, Egypt's second-highest Islamic official, whose office oversees the issuing of fatwas, or religious decrees, on application of Islamic law.
The clash last month "was not sectarian violence", he told Reuters at a Catholic-Muslim dialogue conference at the Jordan River in Jordan. "This just echoes the chaotic transition period we have been going through in Egypt." he said.
Gomaa said no more than 250,000 Egyptians were salafists, or radical Islamists, and they and the non-violent Islamist Muslim Brotherhood would win less than one-fifth of the vote.
"In the elections, the Islamists will not get more than 20 percent," Gomaa said through an interpreter. "I'm sure the majority of Egyptians are with the moderate voice of Islam."
In the last two elections, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists garnered over 60% of the votes.  If Goma'a believes Islamists will get just 20% he is either ignorant of the results or practicing taqiyya.

Bozniaks protest New Years celebrations; it's against Allah and Islam

"There is no fun in Islam"

The Ayatollah Khomeini said that.

Bosnia's Muslims urged to "boycott New Year"

SARAJEVO -- The Islamic Community in Bosnia-Herzegovina has called on Muslims in that country to boycott the upcoming New Year celebrations.

By taking part, said the organization, they would "violate Allah's boundaries, and do something their master hates and despises".

The Islamic Community statement on Wednesday quoted from a book by Almir Dumica, entitled, "Pearls of the Sunnah in the Mosaic of Time":

"On that night, turn off the lights early and let everyone see you're boycotting everything happening on that night. Do not fear anyone's objections. Don't you have a right to choose? Do not say, 'how can I do that, I will change nothing, most people do it... I will be declared a black sheep'."

Muslims are taught that by this behavior they can change a lot, and firstly demonstrate to themselves that the love for their master is much stronger and greater than the fear of objections made by people, said the quote.

"On that night go to bed on time, happy and satisfied that the Allah gave you many benefits that you do not consider often, and which you would become aware of only if you lost them," the Islamic Community release further said.

"Think about your health and family... the peace and security you enjoy. Then, each night of the year will be much more dear to you than the New Year's night is to any of those who eagerly await it all year, while a blessed feeling of triumph will overcome your soul and body, because piousness and reason will have won over passions and ugly customs," the message concluded.

Muslims this year celebrated their New Year on November 25, marking it in mosques, by studying the Koran.

Abu Dhabi: Insane man says he killed the infidels because he is "...allowed to..."

It is not insanity to follow the behavior of Muhammad as the perfect man (al-insan al-kamil) as there are many Qur'anic passages which uphold the requirement to kill the infidels.  2-190/193, 2-216, 3-28, 8-39, 9-29, 9-111, 47-4 and 5-51, to name a few.

I'm allowed to kill infidels, man tells judge

I'm allowed to kill infidels, man tells judge

ABU DHABI // A mentally disturbed man who stabbed a witness to death in court told an appeals court judge yesterday that as a Muslim he was entitled to kill "infidels".

The judge told BAM, an Egyptian, that he should exercise his rights by using the law, "and not go around killing people".
BAM first appeared in court last year, accused of causing a permanent injury to a Nepalese man, LK. Released on bail, he then stabbed LK to death in his room.
Later he took the murder weapon to court and killed another Nepalese man who was giving evidence on behalf of LK.
Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance found him guilty, and ordered that he receive psychiatric treatment.
Prosecutors appealed on the ground that BAM was not mentally ill but knew perfectly well what he was doing. They pointed out that while claiming he killed the two men because they were infidels, he chose to kill only people who were giving evidence against him in a criminal court case.
The Court of Cassation returned the case to the Court of Appeals.
"I'm an Arab Muslim and in an Arab Muslim country," BAM told the court yesterday. "Those infidels are killing Muslims all around the world … there was a Muslim doctor just killed in Germany and when her husband wanted to defend her they attacked him as well."
The judge said he was not concerned with what happened in other countries, and that justice would be served.
He said it was never part of Islamic law, even in an Islamic state, to kill people because of their beliefs, or to take revenge.

Christian alleged to have posted cartoons insulting Islam on Facebook draws Muslim ire; 3 houses torched

These incidents show clearly why Islam is rightly called "the religion of the perpetually intolerant"

From the Egypt Independent December 31

Muslim villagers burn houses of Christian family Upper Egypt

Dozens of residents of the village of Baheeg in Assiut, Upper Egypt, burnt three houses owned by a Christian family after a Christian villager allegedly published cartoons mocking Islam on his Facebook account.
A number of Muslim students attacked their Coptic classmate for posting the cartoons, a Muslim student told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
The Muslim students attacked the Coptic student on Thursday at Monqebad Secondary School in Assiut. Eyewitnesses said the military intervened to break up the fight and escorted the Coptic youth and his family away from the village. Later, Muslim villagers set fire to the family’s houses.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and armed forces and police imposed a security cordon around the site of the incident.
Major General Mohamed Ibrahim, director of security in Assiut, said security forces are attempting to coordinate with Muslim clerics to calm citizens and contain the situation.
Christians make up about 10 percent of the population in Egypt, which totals around 80 million people.

Christian TV station in Egypt taken off the air for "insulting Islam"

No description of what the insult was, although it really doesn't matter.  Just the fact that it was a Christian station was probably enough to insult Muslims, what with all that praying and singing and bell-ringing and church building.

Egypt Muslim group orders Christian TV station off air: report

An offshoot of Egypt's top religious institution, Al Azhar, has called on the government to take a Christian television station off the air, allegedly for offending Muslims, the semi-official Al-Ahram newspaper reported Thursday.

The Islamic Research Centre, which made the demand, is headed by Ahmed al-Tayeb, the sheikh of Al Azhar, which is the Sunni Muslim world's oldest seat of religious learning.
The centre accused US-based Christian broadcaster Al Karma (Vineyard) of insulting Islam and inciting sectarian divisions in Egypt, at a meeting late Wednesday, the newspaper reported.
Al Karama transmits its programmes via the Egyptian state-run satellite NileSat.
Christians, who make up around 10% of Egypt's population, often complain of being treated as second-class citizens and feel marginalised by the predominately Muslim population.
Egypt's Christians recently criticized state television for being biased in reporting about clashes between mainly Christian protesters and army forces in October, when at least 26 people were killed.
However, liberal and secular forces have accused leaders of both faiths of promoting hatred, and of exploiting sectarian sensitivities in the country.

SF Muslim Community Association; selling jihad while smiling at the kuffir

The MCA in the Bay Area has an online bookstore which, not shockingly has three books on sharia.  Both of these books present Islam just as the Qur'an does, as a religion of intolerance and discrimination against those either not Muslim enough or not Muslim at all.  One of the three books is "Reliance of the Traveller," the manual of sharia law approved by Al-Azhar University in Egypt, seat of Sunni jurisprudence for Muslims world-wide.  These books cannot be dismissed away with a wave of the hand. they represent Islam as it is supposed to be practiced, not some extreme or radical version of Islam outside the mainstream.

Interesting how the Muslim Community Association (MCA) openly sells what amounts to hate literature, yet they say that their members are  "well-educated, well-traveled, and earn higher than average incomes in the San Francisco Bay Area."  Then by the account above, poverty does not cause jihad.

Silicon Valley Sharia

Apple. Google. Facebook. Sharia?

Silicon Valley has become synonymous with modernity and innovation.

And naively, one might expect Islam in Silicon Valley to share the same traits: an advanced, forward-thinking interpretation.

Presumably, the Muslim Community Association (MCA) of the San Francisco Bay Area would serve as the stewards of such a perspective. Billing itself as "one of the largest Muslim communities in the US," the MCA proudly proclaims that its members are "well-educated, well-traveled, and earn higher than average incomes in the San Francisco Bay Area." Even the mayor of Cupertino (Apple's hometown) recently visited an MCA Open House.

Yet the MCA's own web site makes it clear that Silicon Valley Islam is anything but innovative. Their online bookstore, which features a small but revealing set of "authentic" books about Islam, yields an interpretation of Islam that is draconian and unbending: an Islam dedicated to bringing Sharia to the world.

One book, Man-Made Laws vs. Shari'ah, by Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Salih al-Mahmood, makes the case that Sharia is the only acceptable set of laws for mankind, arguing that anyone that believes otherwise is a disbeliever.

Muslim apologists repeatedly tell non-Muslim audiences that Sharia is full of vague benefits, such as drivel about "the protection of human dignity," or the aim to "develop and sustain a moral and just society." Sharia supposedly "aims toward ideals of justice, fairness, and the good life." It's a "myth" that "The Shariah is repressive and against American values." It's "simply a set of rulings by which Muslims choose to draw closer to God."

These apologists never seem able to reference any actual documentation of the specific rules and details of Sharia. They cite Sharia's "tremendous diversity." According to liar Reza Aslan, Sharia is "understood in thousands of different ways." He's even so bold as to claim that "there's really no such thing as just Sharia." A US State Department spokeswoman, when asked about the steady march toward Sharia in Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt, responded that Sharia "has a broad application and is understood differently in different places and by different commentators.”

Sharia, you see, is so amorphous, so varied, so nuanced that it's just too difficult a task to even write it down.

Yet somehow, the MCA has no problem helping its members learn all about the specifics of Sharia.

Fahrenheit 451 in Egypt

Now it starts.

Where they have burned books, they will end in burning human beings.”

From Israel Today December 27 by Ryan Jones

Burning books in Cairo

Any number of political analysts have tried to write off the electoral gains by Islamist parties in Egypt, insisting that once in power, groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafist al-Nour Party will take a pragmatic approach to governing.

It is the same nonsense that was spouted as the Nazis rose to power in Germany, when the Ayatollah Khomeini made his triumphant return to Iran, when Yasser Arafat's PLO terrorist organization was elevated to the status of a national government, and when Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian legislative election.

On December 17, an Egyptian mob - presumably of the type that has been voting for the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Nour - demonstrated that they have no intention of "modernizing" or adopting Western-style pragmatism when they torched the Institute of Egypt in Cairo.

Among the casualties of the Islamist assault were some 192,000 rare books and manuscripts.

The Institute of Egypt was established by Napoleon Bonaparte when he invaded Egypt in the late 18th century. For centuries the Institute of Egypt housed priceless chronicles of the nation's history, as well as the findings of hundreds of top scholars and scientists.

The Institute of Egypt symbolized Egypt's connection to the West, and for many its establishment was the start of the "modern era" in Egypt. And that is why it had to go. Because Egypt's Islamists have no intention of modernizing, not on Western terms, at any rate. Like the Ayatollahs in Iran and Hamas in Gaza, their ultimate goal is to return Egypt to a medieval form of life where a strict interpretation of Sharia Law governs the actions of all.

Uh oh; Israeli pencils in Saudi Arabia, is this the end if the world?

Probably not, although you can bet some Saudi authorities are trying to figure out a way to spin this as an attempt by those evil Zionists to thwart Islam.

Wait for it...

From YNet December 28 by Ofer Petersburg

How did Israeli pencils reach Saudi chain?

Saudi authorities are investigating how Israeli pencils reached one of the kingdom's biggest retail chains. The Kravitz chain, which markets the pencils in Israel, was surprised to hear about the affair stirring up the Gulf kingdom.

It turns out that Abu Rialin, a Saudi chain which offers all of its items for two riyals, is selling one of Kravitz's most popular products – a set of 12 pencils with an eraser.

The pencils are sold with the Kravitz logo in Hebrew and without any attempt to conceal the fact that they are made in Israel.

Kravitz learned about the incident following a report published by Saudi website Jazan. The reporter noted that Kravitz was the biggest manufacturer of office supplies in Israel and asked how the Saudi Ministry of Commerce could overlook such a thing.

"Where are the Saudi kingdom's supervision authorities?" the reporter asks, calling for an investigation into the apparent marketing of an Israeli product in Saudi Arabia.

While in Israel the pencils are sold for NIS 4.90 ($1.30), in Saudi Arabia they cost only NIS 2 (53 cents).

"I really don't understand it, because they leave the factory with that price," says Kravitz CEO Menashe Zilka. "We haven't had any break-ins and I checked with our distributors. No one has heard anything, no one knows anything."

The reporter noted that he had tried to investigate the incident himself, but failed to solve the mystery.

Kravitz is also finding it difficult to explain how its pencils showed up in Saudi Arabia. One of the assumptions is that an entrepreneur or salesperson unlinked to the company bought a stock of pencils and managed to reach the Saudi chain.

A salesman who can sell Jewish products to the land of two holy places deserves a raise.

"We don't export. All the items we manufacture are distributed in the local market, so I don't understand how they reached an Arab country," says Zilka.

German accolades

I am not one to blow my own horn, that is not why I do this. It is for you, the information presented is for you to add context.  I have no egotistic intentions, nor do I pat myself on the back.  This is serious stuff, and I am just proud to be part of the 6th column of jihad resistors.

A comment came in today, in German and since this blog gets a lot of useless spam and other nasty emails and comments I sent it off to a friend who reads German.

It's a small thing, but I wanted to share.

This kind of comment lets me know this blog is doing the right thing.

"Gerade auf den Punkt und gut geschrieben! Warum kann nicht jeder andere auch so sein?"

More sharia in the Maldives

It's coming, a steady creep of more and more restrictions based in sharia.  This time it's alcohol and pork, would you care to guess the next items on the "do not play with" list?

The Maldives are a beautiful chain of islands, inexorably sinking under the coming weight of Islam as practiced by Muhammad.

From Haveeru December 28 by Hussain Fiyaz Moosa

Maldives 'considering' complete ban of alcohol and pork

The government yesterday revealed its plan to completely ban alcohol and pork in the Maldives following the demands made by religious protestors on Friday.
The President's Press Secretary Mohamed Zuhair told journalists that the government is considering imposing a nationwide ban on alcohol and pork in response to the demands made by religious protestors on Friday.
"As you are aware of, more than 400 locals are living in some large resorts whereas the population of an island consists of only 200-300. Therefore, the government is looking into ways to completely ban the sale of alcohol and pork throughout the Maldives," he said.
Five demands were put forward at the protest organised by the civil society coalition and opposition parties on Friday.
The demands include removing the SAARC monuments in Addu, condemning UN human rights chief Navi Pillay's comments about Islamic Sharia, not allowing Israeli airlines to operate flights, closing down the brothels in Male and a reversed decision on declaring areas of inhabited islands uninhabited in order to permit alcohol sales.
But Islam really is a tolerant and progressive religion, honestly!

Iran Detains Sunday School Kids Celebrating Christmas

Iranian authorities raided a church that was celebrating Christmas and detained everyone in the building, including children attending Sunday school, a U.K.-based Christian charity said.

Officials in the southern town of Ahwaz raided an Assemblies of God-affiliated church last week and herded the entire congregation into two buses, according to the Christian Solidarity Worldwide.
While the majority of the members were “interrogated, threatened and eventually released,” the church’s senior pastor, identified only as Farhad, remained in detention, along with his wife and some church leaders, at press time.
CSW noted that the authorities raided a church that is not a part of the house church movement, but is an official and long-established church. Its membership largely consists of former followers of John the Baptist who converted to Christianity. Pastor Farhad had been detained on several occasions earlier and warned not to allow Muslim converts into his church.
Raids and detentions during the Christmas season are not uncommon in Iran, a Shi’a-majority country that is seen as one of the worst persecutors of religious minorities.
CSW Chief Executive Mervyn Thomas pointed out that the arrests follow Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani’s recent message to Pope Benedict congratulating Christians on the “auspicious anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ” and stating that the world’s ills were caused by ignoring (Islamic-ed) ethics and justice.
“Mr. Larijani’s Christmas message may have been well intentioned, but it is entirely undermined by these arrests, which violate the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and Iran’s own constitution,” Thomas said.
Iran’s claim that they make arrests only when someone’s actions threaten public security falls flat on its face given that children attending Sunday school were detained, Thomas added. Are legitimate Christmas celebrations and the children a threat to the government or the public, he asked.
“It increasingly appears as if the Iranian regime has decided to deem every act of Christian worship a threat to national security,” he said. “If this is indeed the case, then the right to freedom of religion or belief is gravely under threat in Iran.”
There has not been freedom of religion in Iran since 1979.  Anything non-Muslim such as a church or synagogue had to have government permission, and the official religion, as stated in the Iranian constitution is Islam.

Hamas still insisting on the death of the Jews and the destruction of Israel

It amazes me that a good portion of the world completely ignores the Hamas Charter, and the voices of people like the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.  The depth of the intellectual bankruptcy the West exhibits regarding statements like these is staggering in its consistency.  What does it take to believe the words coming out of the mouths of those who state publicly, over and over that their goal is to kill the Jews and take over Israel?  I really wish I knew and could explain it so that even the most rabid Kool-ade drinker could get it.

As Robert Spencer says, wishing is not a tactic, so there is no choice but to continue to tell the truth and counter the negative and biased, sometimes outright fabrications made by those who promote Islam as the "religion of peace."  Standing up for freedom of speech, religion, human rights and liberty for all peoples, including Muslims makes me an Islamophobe and anti-Muslim, so I am told.

Are you sure you want to be seen with me?

Hamas leader Haniyeh:
Goal is destruction of Israel in stages

Abbas:
Hamas agrees to '67 borders

At a ceremony marking the 24th anniversary of the founding of Hamas, Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh said that Hamas may work for the "interim objective of liberation of Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem," but that this "interim objective" and "reconciliation" with Fatah will not change Hamas' long-term "strategic" goal of eliminating all of Israel:

"The armed resistance and the armed struggle are the path and the strategic choice for liberating the Palestinian land, from the [Mediterranean] sea to the [Jordan] river, and for the expulsion of the invaders and usurpers [Israel]... We won't relinquish one inch of the land of Palestine."

In his speech, Haniyeh also promised that Hamas will "lead Intifada after Intifada until we liberate Palestine - all of Palestine, Allah willing. Allah Akbar and praise Allah."

Two days later, contradicting Haniyeh's statements, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that Hamas leader abroad Khaled Mashaal had agreed that:

- "There will be no military resistance."
- "The permanent solution is on the '67 borders."

According to Abbas, Hamas agrees to a permanent solution on the '67 borders. However, Haniyeh said that Hamas agrees to a temporary solution on the '67 borders as a first stage only.

And stage two would be...

For many years, the PLO promoted a "stages plan" that would first create a Palestinian state on the 1949 - 1967 armistice lines, and then work from that position to destroy Israel.

Then the taqiyya kicks in here...

Senior Fatah official Abbas Zaki recently stated that this remains the goal for Fatah as well, but that "you can't say it to the world. You can say it to yourself."

Women in Somalia; sexual spoils of war

Certain aspects of Islam and jihad are so heinous it is hard to read about them.  It is important to always know what Islam is doing, to whom and where at, as disturbing as that might be to a good portion of us.

Rape is a barbaric aspect of war, a method of leaving your mark to let others know you were there.  Islam has never stopped sanctioning sexual abuse of captive/vulnerable women, it is one way of paying your soldiers for their work.  I this case, that may be the driving force behind all these rapes.  Al-Shabaab is running out of money, and by giving permission for their jihadists to take the women as they please could be partial payment.

It is a sick and evil cult which tells its adherents it is OK to rape the females, some as young as 12.  Then again, since Muhammad married Aisha when she was 6, and consummated the marriage at age 9, 12 year olds are fair game.

From The New York Times December 27 by Jeffrey Gettlman

For Somali Women, Pain of Being a Spoil of War

MOGADISHU, Somalia — The girl’s voice dropped to a hush as she remembered the bright, sunny afternoon when she stepped out of her hut and saw her best friend buried in the sand, up to her neck.
Her friend had made the mistake of refusing to marry a Shababcommander. Now she was about to get her head bashed in, rock by rock.

“You’re next,” the Shabab warned the girl, a frail 17-year-old who was living with her brother in a squalid refugee camp.

Several months later, the men came back. Five militants burst into her hut, pinned her down and gang-raped her, she said. They claimed to be on a jihad, or holy war, and any resistance was considered a crime against Islam, punishable by death.

“I’ve had some very bad dreams about these men,” she said, having recently escaped the area they control. “I don’t know what religion they are.”

Somalia has been steadily worn down by decades of conflict and chaos, its cities in ruins and its people starving. Just this year, tens of thousands have died from famine, with countless others cut down in relentless combat. Now Somalis face yet another widespread terror: an alarming increase in rapes and sexual abuse of women and girls.

The Shabab militant group, which presents itself as a morally righteous rebel force and the defender of pure Islam, is seizing women and girls as spoils of war, gang-raping and abusing them as part of its reign of terror in southern Somalia, according to victims, aid workers and United Nations officials. Short of cash and losing ground, the militants are also forcing families to hand over girls for arranged marriages that often last no more than a few weeks and are essentially sexual slavery, a cheap way to bolster their ranks’ flagging morale.

But it is not just the Shabab. In the past few months, aid workers and victims say, there has been a free-for-all of armed men preying upon women and girls displaced by Somalia’s famine, who often trek hundreds of miles searching for food and end up in crowded, lawless refugee camps where Islamist militants, rogue militiamen and even government soldiers rape, rob and kill with impunity.

With the famine putting hundreds of thousands of women on the move — severing them from their traditional protection mechanism, the clan — aid workers say more Somali women are being raped right now than at any time in recent memory. In some areas, they say, women are being used as chits at roadblocks, surrendered to the gunmen staffing the barrier in the road so that a group of desperate refugees can pass.

“The situation is intensifying,” said Radhika Coomaraswamy, the United Nations’ special representative for children and armed conflict. All the recent flight has created a surge in opportunistic rapes, she said, and “for the Shabab, forced marriage is another aspect they are using to control the population.”

More arrests in the "used car jihad"

Lansing used car dealership investigated in terror scheme

A Lansing car dealership is named among 30 around the country in a federal investigation into an alleged $480 million money laundering scheme tied to Mideast terrorist group Hezbollah, federal prosecutors said.

According to a federal lawsuit filed in New York City, Oussama Salhab, the owner of Cybamar Swiss, a Redford Township transport company, "is a Hezbollah operative" who was part of an effort to funnel part of the proceeds from car sales to the Lebanese group.

The 66-page complaint lists a Lansing company called A&J Auto Sales Inc. as one of the dealers in Michigan - along with eight in and around Detroit.

However, the used car dealers are not accused in the federal complaint of being aware that they were part of a money laundering scheme and may have been unwitting participants.

It's unclear who owns A&J Auto Sales Inc. A business search turned up no results in Lansing, and the U.S. attorney's office referred to the complaint in lieu of comment.

The suit seeks the forfeiture of the assets of Cybamar.

In addition, federal officials sought the forfeiture of used car dealerships in Detroit, Dearborn Heights, Lansing and Redford Township that sold vehicles whose proceeds may have ended up going to Hezbollah.

Salhab bought vehicles from at least two of the dealerships, and his Redford company shipped many of the used cars overseas.

A manager at Cybamar said Friday the owner was not available to comment.

Not enough stones to kill, hanging to go ahead in Iran

Well wouldn't you know it looks like the "moderates" in Iran have won the day.  Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani will not be stoned to death after all, it seems the prison she is being held at does not have the proper facilities to carry out a stoning.  Oh those poor, deprived Iranians, not being able to carry out Muhammad's orders.  Is there no pit deep enough to put her?  After all, women are buried deeper than men so they do need more hole.  Are there enough of the correct size stones available?  You start with small and work up to large, maybe they didn't have enough of the larger stones to finish the job.  Whatever their rational, the brutality of stoning continues against women in Muslim countries, and even international pressure does little, except to change the punishment so as to look less evil.

Iran Fails to Silence Critics by Changing Woman's Death Sentence From Stoning to Hanging

Iranian officials, already under fire for sentencing a woman to death by stoning, has done little to diminish international outcry by instead pursuing an execution by hanging.
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, 44, was convicted back in 2006 for an “illicit relationship outside of marriage” and sentenced to death by stoning. The execution was delayed after protests across the globe, and Ashtiani has been detained in prison ever since.
On Sunday, the head judiciary, Malek Ajdar Sharifi said the prison does not have the “necessary facilities” to carry forth with the stoning and that they are considering hanging as an alternative.
Sharifi told the Isna News Agency that an investigation is being conducted to see if it is legally and religiously possible to execute Ashtiani by hanging and that once a determination is made, the sentence will be carried out.

Turkish imam says Santa Claus 'dishonest'

The imam of the Turkish town of Kuzan has issued a warning to Muslims about Santa Claus, who he called a dishonest person, Italy's Corriere della Sera wrote.

Imam Suleiman Eniceri said it was suspicious that Santa Claus brings presents into a house by climbing down a chimney or through windows. “If he was an honest person he would come through the door as we do,” the imam said. The imam cited a passage in the Koran that calls on the faithful to enter houses through doors.
“Christmas is not our festival,” he said, and warned Turkish Muslims against drinking alcohol.
Turkey's population is over 96 percent Muslim and less than one percent Christian. At the same time it is a secular state with many European traditions.
