Pak drops 'un-Islamic' kite-flying festivities

Pakistani authorities have dropped a plan to revive the 'Basant' festival and kite-flying in the central province of Punjab in the wake of a warning issued by the Jamaat-ud-Dawah, which has described the event as "un-Islamic".
The interim government of Punjab headed by caretaker chief minister Najam Sethi surrendered to detractors of the festival and dropped the proposal to revive Basant.

Sethi, a journalist by profession, had recently spoken about his desire to revive Basant, which he had described as an intrinsic part of Lahori culture.

During a high-level meeting held in Lahore on Monday, officials were warned by the police about the possible negative fallout from the revival of Basant, which marks the onset of spring.

Police officials warned the government of possible protests and a fallout of a warning issued by the JuD, a source told PTI. After the meeting, senior officials recommended Sethi to drop any plans to mark the festival, to which the CM acted.

After taking over as chief minister, Sethi had directed government departments, including the city district government of Lahore, to devise a viable plan for Basant.

Senior government and City District Government Lahore officials initiated an extensive exercise and held discussions with stakeholders about reviving Basant.

The city district government framed an action plan and recommended that festivities, including kite flying, could be held at Safari Park on Raiwind Road and Jallo Park along Canal Road on April 14 and 15.

The city district government had discussed measures to revive Basant in December too. Even at that time, police officials said they could not guarantee that there would not be casualties during the event.

Egypt presidential aide blames Christians for cathedral attack, sparks fury

A statement on Tuesday by an Egyptian presidential aide accusing Christian Copts of being the cause of Monday’s clashes near Cairo’s Abbasiya Cathedral has caused public outrage.

Issam al-Hadad, the president’s assistant on foreign affairs, published the statement on Facebook, saying that during a funeral of Christians on Monday, some angry mourners attacked passing cars.

This led some people near the cathedral to open fire and throw rocks, which escalated into an exchange of gunfire, he added.

Clashes broke out on Monday between Muslims and Christians during a funeral of four Christians killed in sectarian violence the day before in the town of al-Khsoos. Monday’s clashes killed two and injured 89, security officials said.

Presidency repudiates statement
A meeting was held Tuesday between presidential and cathedral delegates to discuss the recent clashes, during which the presidential delegation repudiated Hadad’s statement, saying it only expressed his personal opinion.

“Issuing statements that are then denied by the presidency clearly shows confusion in presidential performance,” said Egyptian journalist Abdullah al-Sinawi.

Hadad’s statement shows the sectarianism that Egypt is experiencing under Muslim Brotherhood rule, Sinawi said, adding that the aide should have kept silent until results of an investigation are announced.

Adding fuel to the fire?

Hadad’s statement is irresponsible, and the Brotherhood and government do not consider the country’s interests in their calculations, said Margaret Azar, secretary general of the Free Egyptians Party.

13th century Turkish church converted to museum now to be turned into a mosque

Originally a church, there were no minarets until Islam came

In keeping with Islamic dictates which say that churches cannot be rebuilt, repaired or built new in the land of Muhammad.  This precedent could accelerate the push to change the main Hagia Sophia in Istanbul into a mosque, something that has been at the forefront of jihadists who want a return to pre-Attaturk Turkey for many years now.

The secular Turkey we all know is quickly morphing into another Islamic state.

Mosque conversion raises alarm

One of the most important monuments of late Byzantium, the 13th-century Church of Hagia Sophia in the Black Sea city of Trabzon, which is now a museum, will be converted into a mosque, after a legal battle that has dramatic implications for other major historical sites in Turkey. Many in Turkey believe that the Church of Hagia Sophia is a stalking horse for the possible re-conversion of its more famous namesake in Istanbul, the Hagia Sophia Museum (Ayasofya Müzesi).

For around 50 years, responsibility for the Church of Hagia Sophia in Trabzon has rested with Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The courts now accept the claim made by the General Directorate of Pious Foundations, the government body responsible for most of the country’s historical mosques, that this has been an “illegal occupation”. The court has ruled that Hagia Sophia is an inalienable part of the foundation of Sultan Mehmed II who first turned the church into a mosque after his conquest of the Empire of Trebizond in 1462.

“A building covenanted as a mosque cannot be used for any other purpose,” says Mazhar Yildirimhan, the head of the directorate’s office in Trabzon. He declined to speculate on whether this would mean covering up nearly half the wall space taken up with figurative Christian art, including the dome depicting a dynamic Christ Pantocrator. “There are modern techniques for masking the walls,” he says.

The church was rescued from dereliction (it had been used variously as an arsenal and a cholera hospital) between 1958 and 1962 by the University of Edinburgh under the direction of David Talbot Rice and David Winfield. This included restoring the original ground plan and removing a prayer niche constructed into an exterior porch. The church also has an exterior frieze depicting “the Fall of Man”.

“It is the whole ensemble—architecture, sculpture and painting—that makes Hagia Sophia unique,” says Antony Eastmond of London’s Courtauld Institute of Art, who is an authority on the building. “This is the most complete surviving Byzantine structure; there is no 13th-century monument like it.”

Concern for the building is prompted by the fate of Istanbul’s Arab Mosque—originally a 14th-century Dominican church—also administered by the directorate. An earthquake in 1999 shook loose plaster from the vaults revealing frescoes and mosaics. The conservation of these paintings was finished last year but they were immediately re-covered.

Like its namesake in Trabzon, Hagia Sophia in Istanbul was also turned into a mosque, after Mehmed II’s conquest of the city in 1453. It was famously made into a museum in 1935 by cabinet decree—unlike the informal arrangement in Trabzon. The re-conversion of Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia into a mosque has long been the “golden apple” sought by Turkey’s religious right.

For such a thing to happen would have major implications for the country’s standing as a custodian of world heritage, according to one senior Western diplomat based in Istanbul.

US teargas arrives in Egypt for Muslim Brotherhood use

A shipment of teargas canisters from the United States arrived at the Egyptian Abadeya Port in Suez on Sunday, according to official documents obtained by the Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.

Five containers carrying around 140,000 teargas canisters were apparently shipped to the Egyptian Interior Ministry by the Aramex International courier service.

The Egypt Independent reports that the shipping documents state that only the Egyptian government may use the canisters, and that they are forbidden to re-export the shipment or sell it to third parties.

The documents state that the shipment set sail from the port of Wilmington in Pennsylvania on 14 March on board the SS Jamestown. A letter of credit was forwarded without specifying the name of the bank. The Egyptian government paid the freight fees.

In February this year, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that the Interior Ministry agreed to import teargas canisters for $2.46 million, to be shipped by an Egyptian military cargo plane.

Interior Ministry spokesperson Hani Abdel Latif said that the ministry imported the grenades in order to protect state facilities.

Egyptian authorities have recently used teargas against various demonstrations, including a recent crackdown on protests on Saturday, when demonstrators threw fireworks and reportedly attempted to gain access to a court and the prosecutor-general's office in central Cairo.

Egypt pope excoriates Morsi over treatment of Copts

I wonder if Tawadros II will be accused of Islamophobia, or worse insulting the Muslim Brotherhood by telling Morsi he is "negligent" in his treatment of Coptic Christians.  It appears Morsi talks the talk but will not walk the walk, but that is to be expected.  As long as he tells the West what they want to hear, no one in power will question him or his true motives, or demand he stick to what he says.

Egypt pope blasts Morsi over cathedral clashes

CAIRO: Egypt’s Pope Tawadros II on Tuesday accused President Mohamed Morsi of “negligence” in his response to deadly clashes outside Cairo’s Coptic cathedral, the worst sectarian crisis since he took power in June.

Morsi had telephoned Tawadros after Sunday’s violence which saw crowds pelt mourners with stones after they emerged from a funeral service for slain Coptic Christians.

Shocking television images showed police fire tear gas at St. Mark’s cathedral — symbol of the Coptic community which has long complained of discrimination and has been the target of frequent sectarian attacks.

The next round of tear gas will be brought to you by the Obama administration.

Morsi “promised to do everything to protect the cathedral but in reality we don’t see this,” Tawadros told the private ONTV channel in a call-in.

When asked why, Tawadros said he believed “it comes under the category of negligence and poor assessment of events.” Two people died in Sunday’s clashes which erupted after the funeral service of four Christians killed in earlier violence in a town north of Cairo. One Muslim was also killed in those confrontations.

Tawadros said the church had never before in its history witnessed this level of attack.

“This flagrant assault on a national symbol, the Egyptian church, has never been subjected to this in 2,000 years,” Tawadros said.

He called on authorities to take a strong position against such kinds of attacks.

“There has to be a clear stance from the state … because matters now have crossed the limits of freedom of expression and have reached a level of chaos,”he said.

“Some officials have expressed kind feelings, these feelings are not enough at all,” he continued.

Following the attack, Morsi said: “I consider any attack on the cathedral an attack against myself,” and proposed to revive the defunct Justice and Equality Committee, which was established to look at promoting citizenship and equality.

“The committees and the groups, we have had enough of them. We want action and not just words,” Tawadros said. “Committees are formed every day but there is no work taking place on the ground.”

How three Canadians graduated from a rebellious high school friendship to the world of Islamist terrorism

The distressed family of Ali Medlej explained the unexpected death of their son by saying he was killed in a car accident. The truth, as they — and the world — now knows, is more ghastly and perplexing: The young London man died perpetrating January’s terrorist attack on an Algerian gas plant.The violent end of Ali Medlej, along with Xristos Katsiroubas, his chum from school whom he helped convert to Islam, came not in a car, but in the North African desert in an attack that left 37 hostages dead, most of them incinerated in an explosion that likely also purposely killed the Canadian attackers.

That was their startling end.

Now everyone, even those close to the young men, wonder where their dark odyssey began.While the geography is somewhat clear — from London to Edmonton to Morocco, Mauritania, Mali and, ultimately, to the ill-fated gas plant in In Amenas, Algeria — it is the psychological journey, from suburban rascals to jihadi commandos, that leaves friends befuddled.

The men, along with Aaron Yoon, who was convicted in Mauritania last year of membership in a terrorist group, were all part of a larger group of friends, mostly Muslim, at London South Collegiate Institute, a high school in the southwestern Ontario city.

The boys emerged from adolescence immersed in twin obsessions with Islam and hip-hop music.

And if those influences offer a cultural contrast, the lives of the three men portray a similar duality, said family, many friends and former schoolmates, some of whom were close to one or more of the men since kindergarten.

Ali, with most of those in his clique, for instance, devoutly attended prayers but also, while in Grade 12, got into trouble for taking a fake gun to a neighbouring school to settle a dispute with a student there, friends said. And although dying in a bloody al-Qaeda attack, in Grade 9, he once mocked the Taliban.

Xristos, in turn, was a late convert to Islam after being raised in a Greek-Canadian Orthodox Christian home and, with the zeal of a new convert, announced he was to be called Mustafa.

“Xris [prounounced Chris] was a much more serious Muslim than Ali,” said Justin VanderTuin, 24, who was on the high school football team with Ali. “Ali certainly was not. He was a kid who drank and smoked, but I never saw Xris with any of those things.”

And Aaron, a Korean-Canadian Catholic who also converted in his teens, under influence from Ali, shunned schoolwork and reading but ended up studying the Koran and Arabic at an Islamic centre in North Africa.

“I was surprised when I read about Aaron studying Islamic texts — Aaron, study?” said a former classmate at Cartier Public School. “He could never even remember when Confederation was.”

The circumstances of these young men — who were in many ways ordinary and in others extraordinary — do not make for a clean portrait to be drawn; just as it makes it more important for investigators, and the community, to understand what went wrong.

Syria: Christians flee rebel areas as fatwa authorises rape of non-Sunni women

The conquest of the Cheikh Maksoud district in Aleppo, by the anti-Assad militia, could mark a turning point in the battle for the city, a priest has reported.

Father David Fernandez, a missionary of the Institute of the Incarnate Word, said the neighbourhood is located in a very strategic position on a hill overlooking central Aleppo where there are many government buildings.

Fr David said many downtown streets have been closed and noboby can pass through them, because snipers hidden in the buildings are shooting at everything that moves.

"In Cheikh Maksoud, Christians once represented the majority. In recent years the Kurdish population had become dominant, but many Christian families were still gathered around the Armenian Catholic and the Greek-Orthodox Church." Fr David said. Lately, he added, more than three hundred Christian families have fled the area captured by the rebels. "At least 120 Christians have found refuge in the house of the Marist Brothers."

Among the fugitives, there are many stories circulating about murders and the rapes of women from families linked to the army or government circulate.

Fr David said: "Yesterday, Yasir al-Ajlawni - a Jordanian Salafi sheikh, resident in Damascus, released a fatwa on Youtube, declaring that it is lawful for opponents of the regime of Bashar al-Assad to rape "any Syrian woman not Sunni. According to the sheikh, capturing and raping Alawi or Christian women is not contrary to the precepts of Islam."

Britain: sharia court tells woman the problems at home are her fault, advises not to contact police

"There’s no accountability and many of them are not operating in accordance with UK law"

No kidding, really?  Since sharia courts operate outside British common law it should be a given that a sharia court is an anathema to English law.  Now, with more than 80 courts operating around England it will be almost impossible to shut them down.  With the Muslim population increasing faster than the British it is a matter of time until Islam becomes the dominate social order, and with that will come the "legalization" of sharia courts.  

Don't think it can happen here?  I am sure the British thought the same thing a few years ago.

Sharia court tells 'abused wife' to stay

Dr Suhaib Hasan told the undercover reporter that she should only contact police “as a last resort”, but she would be forced to leave her marital home if she did so.

The shocking exchange, filmed by the BBC’s Panorama programme for a special report into Sharia courts, has infuriated equal rights campaigners.

Baroness Cox is trying to take ­forward a private members’ Bill in the House of Lords to make it an offence for Sharia councils to set themselves up as courts.

She said: “It is a system which, in its gender discrimination causing women such suffering, is utterly incompatible with our country’s ­values. It is time to draw a line in the sand and say ‘enough is enough’.”

The programme, to be screened tomorrow night, highlights the problems faced by Muslim women who are pressured to stay in abusive marriages. Posing as a woman seeking a divorce from her violent husband, the reporter consults Dr Hasan of the Leyton Islamic Sharia council in east London.

His first response is to ask if she has done anything to provoke her treatment.

He asks her: “I think that you should be courageous enough to ask this question to him. Just tell me why you are so upset, huh? Is it because of my cooking? Is it because I see my friends, huh? So I can ­correct myself.”

The reporter asks if she should report the violence to the police but is warned: “You involve the police if he hits you but you must understand this will be the final blow.

“You will have to leave the house. Where will you go then? A refuge? A refuge is a very bad option. Women are not happy in such places.”

Dr Hasan goes on to suggest counselling, adding: “Don’t think about the police because if the police is involved then think, your family life is going to break.” Leyton Sharia council handles 50 cases a month, mainly marital disputes brought by Muslim women. For many couples a Sharia divorce is the only option because they have a Sharia marriage not a British civil one.

Dr Hasan told the BBC: “We try to facilitate for the Muslim community something which they badly need because there’s no other institution [which] can provide such services so we are providing it.

Rather than encourage the assimilation into the country of choice, Dr Hasan continues to encourage marginalization and facilitates the separation of communities by overseeing a sharia court.  He is the problem, not the solution he proposes.

Qurans at crux of Guantánamo hunger strike

A senior Pentagon official said this week that Muslim captives at the detention center in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, have hidden weapons inside their copies of the Quran, a claim the U.S. military has yet to substantiate.

“There have, in the past, been incidents of detainees storing contraband in their Qurans; items found have included improvised weapons, unauthorized food and medicine,” wrote William K. Lietzau, deputy assistant secretary of defense for rule of law and detainee policy.

He made the claim in a one-page letter dated April 1 to the Center for Constitutional Rights, a New York law firm. The firm wrote Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on March 14, seeking a meeting to discuss the ongoing hunger strike at the Guantánamo prison, which they said started over a Feb. 2 Quran search and grew to present “a serious threat to the health and life of detainees.”

Lietzau, responding for Hagel, offered a broad defense of Quran search policy and told the lawyers he was “aware of reports that many detainees are engaged in a hunger strike.”

The Miami Herald has been asking the military since mid-March to provide specific details, including photographs, of items found concealed in detainees’ Qurans. n light of the Lietzau letter, The Herald asked additionally for specific incident reports. No details have been provided.

A dispute over Quran searches has been the underlying issue of the hunger strike that lawyers for the captives say is more widespread than the military acknowledges. On Friday, Navy medical staff considered 41 of the 166 detainees to be weak enough or to have lost enough weight to be classified as hunger strikers. Eleven were getting tube feedings of nutritional supplements, the camps said, and no hunger strikers were hospitalized.

Lawyers have proposed that, if the Pentagon cannot agree to stop having staff search Qurans, it should let the captives turn them in for safekeeping. Prison officials refuse. Navy Capt. Robert Durand, a spokesman, said letting captives return their individual Qurans would amount to a concession of desecration.

Several defense lawyers were asked whether they had ever heard an allegation of captives hiding contraband in Qurans.

“They’re not going to desecrate their own Qurans,” said attorney David Remes, who met with several hunger-striking Yemeni detainees and likened a weapon hidden in the holy book to hiding “a saw in a birthday cake.”

No it isn't.  A birthday cake is not the same thing as a Qur'an, even with the saw in it.

Authorities: At least 11 killed by Islamic extremists in attack on northeast Nigeria village

YOLA, Nigeria – Authorities in northeast Nigeria say at least 11 people were killed in a gun and machete attack carried out by radical Islamic extremists in a northeast Nigeria village.

Adamawa state police spokesman Mohammed Ibrahim said the attacker hit the village of Midlu early Saturday morning, targeting the house of the state's deputy governor during their assault.

Ibrahim said victims had their throats slit. Villagers living there said the attackers called out some of their victims by name, suggesting that the assailants had particular people they wanted dead.

No arrests were immediately made in the attack...

Catholics, Christians now religious extremists, says US Army

The US Army in their infinite wisdom has published a short list of who they consider to be a danger to US security, with Christians topping the list.  How the Army lumped together Christians, Al-Qaeda, Catholics, the KKK and Sunni Muslims is a mystery, although the Army claims it was part of an ironically named "Equal Opportunity" training brief on extremism.  Oh, and us Islamophobes are on the list as well.

My question is; if Al-Qaeda and Catholicism are now equally bad, and we are at war with Al-Qaeda, will Obama declare war on Catholics and the Pope?

US Army Labeled Evangelicals, Catholics as Examples of Religious Extremism

The U.S. Army listed Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism as examples of religious extremism along with Al Qaeda and Hamas during a briefing with an Army Reserve unit based in Pennsylvania, Fox News has learned.

“We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups,” said Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. “It is dishonorable for any U.S. military entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization.”

The incident occurred during an Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on extremism. Topping the list is Evangelical Christianity. Other organizations listed included Catholicism, Al Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, Sunni Muslims, and Nation of Islam.

The military also listed “Islamophobia” as a form of religious extremism.

Exploding donkeys

This article reminds me of the scene in "Team America" where the handler Spottswoode, responding to our hero Gary saying he had now seen everything says "Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?"  When Gary says no, Spottswoode responds with "well then, you haven't seen everything, have you?"

I would say that up to now I had thought I had seen everything related to the depth of barbarity Islam would stoop to to kill and maim, and since I have never seen a man eat his own head, an exploding donkey will have to substitute for the cranial meal.

Donkey bomb explodes killing policeman in Aghanistan as Taliban turn live animals into explosives

A policeman has been killed and three civilians were injured after a bomb strapped to a donkey exploded at a police post in Afghanistan.
Local government spokesman Sarhadi Zwak says the animal blew up in front of the checkpoint in the Alingar district of Laghman province.

Mr Zwak said Taliban militants were responsible for the bomb, which was remotely detonated. Insurgents are finding new ways to thwart stepped up security measures in their bid to undermine confidence in the Afghan government.Violence in the country has escalated as US and other foreign combat forces prepare to withdraw by the end of 2014.
Donkey bombs are uncommon in Afghanistan, although the militants are having to find increasingly bizarre ways to get explosives close to their intended targets.

Female suicide bombers are regularly used by the Taliban, with children even reportedly being trained to carry out attacks.

Afghanistan veteran asked to leave skydiving venue due to "infidel" tattoo

OK, follow me on this; a veteran of Iran and Afghanistan was called an infidel, or kuffir the entire 2 years of his deployment, so in response he had the word infidel tattooed on his right calf.  While skydiving at a Florida location that was also used for training members of the Qatar military, one of the Qatar soldiers complained that the tattoo on the veteran was insulting.  The soldier was asked to cover it up with duck tape by the owner of the business, and after refusing was asked to leave the premises.  Called an infidel by Muslims he tattoos that word on himself, then gets ostracized because Muslims were offended he tattooed infidel on his body.  WTF?!

This kind of behavior of not wanting to piss off Muslims is becoming more common, and as we give in to more demands, the demands become shriller and more strident, and we give in more easily, whereas more demands are exercised...you get the picture.

DISABLED PURPLE HEART VETERAN, EMBARASSED AT LOCAL BUSINESS.

I am a disabled combat veteran. I served in Iraq and worked in Afghanistan. I took an IED because my country asked me too, and I was injured by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. I have a Purple Heart and an ARCOM with Valor. I fully expect to be treated differently when I am visiting another country - when I am in America I expect equality and toleration; but what I experienced today is something that I never would have thought I'd have to go through in my own country. The country I fought for!

I am a skydiver with around 300 jumps under my belt. I've done jumps from 30,000 feet, helicopters, hot air balloons, wingsuit skydives and so forth. So with that being said I travel around doing this sport quite a bit. Today was my second time at a dropzone called "Florida Skydiving Center / Skydive Lake Wales".

The picture is of the tattoo I have. Here is the definition of said tattoo: "Kafir (Arabic: كافر‎ kāfir, plural كفّار kuffār) is an Arabic term used in an Islamic doctrinal sense, usually translated as "unbeliever," "disbeliever," or "infidel." The term refers to a person who rejects God or who hides, denies, or covers the "truth." The Muslim's from Qatar saw that tattoo and complained to the dropzone. Once they did so I was called to the back office and asked to cover it up by the OWNER. Not that I would, but its 80 something degrees here today, and that would be an unreasonable request. After I told her that I had no pants to cover it up she told me that she has DUCT TAPE that I can use to cover it. I told the lady that I was not going to cover it up, as it was nothing more than a tattoo saying "I am not a Muslim". After beating around the bush for a few minutes entertaining me while I was trying to convince her otherwise, she asked me to leave. 

What kind of America do we live in where someone comes back from war; disabled and decorated... while serving overseas was called an "infidel" for over 2 years, and then get asked to leave an establishment because of a tattoo I have that says just that, because of a culture of people visiting our country, and an American Business with no ethical sense or a backbone for that matter.

I am honestly offended and embarassed by how I was treated at skydive lake wales.

"Moderate" Kuwait passes law punishing speech that insults Islam

This is exactly the kind of law, except for the death penalty, the UN, through resolution 16/18 would like to see passed worldwide.  16/18 would effectively shut down any investigation or questioning of Islam or any of its tenets.  Of course, so does the threat of death.  The restriction of free speech is slowly making its way around the globe and Kuwait is another Islamic brick in the wall of prohibited talk.

Kuwait Parliament Approves Death Penalty for Insulting God

Kuwait’s parliament approved a law imposing the death penalty on any Muslim who insults God, his prophets, messengers, Prophet Mohammad’s wives or the Koran, in any form of expression, if they don’t repent.

The bill, which adds articles to Kuwait’s penal code, was passed today by 40 lawmakers, including all Cabinet ministers present, and rejected by five Shiite Muslims as well as one liberal lawmaker.

“Islam is a religion of tolerance, peace and acceptance, but that doesn’t mean it should be stepped on,” lawmaker Ali al-Deqbasi told the house before the vote. AbdulHamid Dashti, who voted against the bill, said the law “should be broadened to criminalize those who insult all beliefs and faiths.”

According to the law, judges must give defendants the option of repenting, which, if taken, reduces the sentence to at least five years in prison and a fine of 10,000 dinars ($36,000). Non-Muslims will be sentenced to 10 years in prison if convicted of violating the law, which will take effect after signed by the emir and then published in the Official Gazette within a month of parliamentary approval.

2 rockets fired from Gaza explode in southern Israel

Two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip struck southern Israel Wednesday morning, hours after Israeli planes bombed targets in the Hamas-controlled territory for the first time since November’s ceasefire took effect.

No damage or injuries were reported in either incident.

One of the rockets exploded in an open area in the Eshkol border region, after which Israel Police sappers were sent to defuse what remained of the explosive charge. The police had not yet tracked down the second projectile.

Video: ‘I Hate Christians and Am Disgusted by Them’ – Muslim Cleric

Dr. Abdullah Badr—an Egyptian Muslim scholar, Al Azhar graduate, and professor of Islamic exegesis, who spent ten years in prison under Mubarak, but, along with any number of Islamic terrorists and agitators, was released under Morsi—recently gave an excellent summation of the second half of the highly divisive Muslim doctrine of wala’ wa bara’ (or, “Love and Hate”)—namely, that the true Muslim should love and help fellow Muslims, while hating and being disgusted by non-Muslims.

During a conference last week (see video below, with English subtitles) he explained how he is so “disgusted” by Christians, to the point that, if a Christian were to touch his cup, he would not drink from it:

[It’s] not a matter of piety, but disgust. I get grossed out. Get that? Disgust, I get grossed out man, I cannot stand their smell or … I don’t like them, it’s my choice. And they gross me out; their smell, their look, everything. I feel disgusted, disgusted. I get disgusted not only by that, but by many things.

He kept stressing that, while Sharia law does not ban Muslims from eating food prepared by Christians, he personally is sickened by them. Badr explained how he once entered a store in Egypt to buy food, but when he saw the crosses and Christian icons on the wall, and understood that the owner was Christian, he immediately gave the food away on the street.

Even so, the pious Badr went on to warn that any Muslim who goes out of his way to make a show of his disgust for Christians is a hypocrite. His logic was perversely similar to Jesus’s teaching that those who show off their piety—Christ was talking about fasting, not hating—are hypocrites.

Instead, according to Badr, the disgust, and as he later explained in the video, the hate for Christians and other infidels, must come from the heart—as it does with him—and not be a mere matter of showing off around other Muslims.

Such is the Islamic doctrine of Love and Hate...

No flying pigs in Australia

Imagine you own a pizza parlor.  You develop a customer base of hundreds over the years, and one day you get an order for pizza in the German part of town.  They don't eat pepperoni per cultural norms, and they tell you that they want bratwurst instead, which you happily give them, but they are also insulted you would be offering pepperoni which is against they're beliefs, and demand that you stop serving pepperoni or they will boycott, protest, whatever.  You give in, and claim that you just want to be "inclusive" and sensitive to your customers needs and wants.

Pigs can't fly - Qantas bans pork on in-flight menu to respect Islam

QANTAS has removed pork from its in-flight menu on flights to and from Europe as a result of its partnership with Middle Eastern airline Emirates.

No food containing pork or pork products will be served on those flights - which now has a stopover in Dubai - because it is strictly forbidden in Islam and is considered "unholy".

Not a direct flight, but Quantas still must bow to Islamic sensibilities.

All meals offered on the route in first, business and economy classes will also be prepared without alcohol in keeping with the Islamic religion. A note on the Qantas menus on flights in and out of Dubai states that the meals do not contain pork products or alcohol. The airline has also introduced a mezze plate offering traditional Middle Eastern fare in its upper classes and has Arabic translations after in-flight announcements.

A Qantas spokesman said the decision to remove pork, ham and other related food items had had minimal impact on its menu and it was still offering the same meal choices.
"Qantas in-flight catering often reflects the cultural and regional influences of the international destinations we fly to," he said.

So by Quantas definition, Islam is a culture.  I thought it was a religion only, not an ingrained part of a Muslims daily life. In this case, Quantas is giving the minority preference over the majority.  Mr. Spock must be spinning in his grave about now.

Austria’s Turkish community claimed a victory in its fight against Danish toy giant Lego yesterday after the firm agreed to withdraw a Star Wars toy set featuring a mosque-like building inhabited by an obese, hookah–smoking alien, following complaints that it was anti-Muslim.
Lego added the “Jabba’s Palace” playset to its Star Wars collection in 2012. But in January this year the set started to provoke outrage in Austria’s Islamic community after a Muslim father found that his sister had given one to his son as a present.

The game, which is aimed at children aged from nine to 14, features Jabba the Hutt in his intergalactic lair. Jabba, the slug-like villain who first appeared in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi, lives in a domed, oriental-looking building equipped with rockets and machine guns. He also smokes a water pipe and keeps Princess Leia in chains for use as his personal slave.

Furious Muslim critics complained that the Lego set’s Asian and oriental figures were “deceitful and criminal” characters such as gun-runners, slave masters and terrorists.

“This sort of thing does not belong in a child’s bedroom,” said Melissa Gunes, a spokeswoman for Austria’s Turkish Cultural Association. Critics also claimed that the palace had an uncanny resemblance to Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia mosque. “The game is pedagogical dynamite. It depicts Muslims as terrorists,” the TCA complained, adding that Jabba was shown to be a “terrorist who likes to smoke hookah and have his victims killed”. It appealed to Lego to withdraw the product immediately.

Police: Son Fatally Shoots Dad During Easter Service, Yells Killing Was ‘Will Of Allah’
ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) — Witnesses say the 25-year-old man accused of walking into an Ohio church and fatally shooting his father after an Easter service Sunday was yelling about God and Allah after the killing.

Police say Reshad Riddle walked into the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ in Ashtabula and killed his father, 52-year-old Richard Riddle, with a single shot from a handgun Sunday afternoon.

Associate Pastor Sean Adams told The (Ashtabula) Star Beacon newspaper that worshippers started screaming, ducking down and calling 911 on cellphones after the shooting.
“”It was terrifying,” Adams told the newspaper. “The children were screaming and people were dialing 911. We were afraid to breathe.”

Adams said Reshad Riddle then continued into the church, still holding the gun, and yelled that the killing was “the will of Allah.

Jihadists attack Jews at the Temple Mount...again

The Temple Mount is the first holiest site to Jews, third holiest to Muslims, yet it is Islam that manages the site and have historically restricted Jews and Christians at their whim.  Perched atop the mount is the Al-Aqsa mosque which is where most of the animosity against Jews flows from. Throwing rocks at worshippers is nothing new nor is the continuation of the violence against non-Muslims.  The tensions in the Middle east are based in religion, specifically Islam but to point that out is Islamophobic.

Eve of Holiday, Muslims Hurl Rocks at Jews on Temple Mount

Once again, extremist Muslims tried but failed to prevent Jews from accessing the holiest site in the Jewish faith, with the threat of attacks.

Dozens of Arab teens hurled rocks Sunday morning at groups of Jews who were touring the Temple Mount.

The site was open on the eve of the finalday of the Passover holiday in the morning from 7:30 a.m to 11:00 a.m and scheduled to reopen from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon.

But a crowd of “at least 30" Arab rioters gathered at about 10:30 a.m. and began hurling rocks at the Jewish visitors when they reached the site, the most sacred place in the world in Judaism.

All the groups were accompanied by a police escort, according to Israel Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld, who told Arutz Sheva that six rioters were arrested in connection with the incident.

No one was injured in the attack, he said.

According to Rosenfeld, the site remained open to Jews and other non-Muslim visitors until the end of “regularly-scheduled visiting hours, and then closed on time at 11:00 a.m.”

Rosenfeld assured Arutz Sheva the site would reopen for visitors at 1:00 p.m.

A spokesperson for The Temple Mount Movement said he was not surprised by the incident and called on police to keep the sacred site open to Jewish worshipers on a constant basis.
