Oregon jihadist conviction upheld

Our Oregon home has been infected with creeping sharia and stealth jihad, despite our  ability to deny that this is so.  There are too many examples now to think otherwise.  The great Northwest is a place where Islamists and jihadists plan and plot, noticing only how Oregon's weather and terrain mimic Afghanistan.  Our green homeland has been polluted with the stench of Islamic supremacy from the big city to the small burg.  Pete Seda in Ashland, Mohamed Mohamud (Mo-Mo) in Portland and the mosque blaze in Corvallis which still has had no arrest, so we do not know who set the fire, but it could be either a Muslim-hater or one of the mosques own.

Then we have the little town of Bly where Oussama Kassir along with James Ujaama tried to set up a jihad training camp back in the late 90s.  The plan was to operate a facility like the ones back in Afghanistan, but with the advantage of it being closer and easier to access, and provide the realistic environment needed to learn how to kill the unbelievers.  I have been to Bly and it is as bucolic as they come.  You can picture Norman Rockwell there, painting a scene of tow-headed boys on bicycles gathered at the town gazebo to listen to Sunday sfternoon Sousa marching music.  The small, out of the way towns and villages across America are the perfect spots for Islam to set up camp.  The farther away from the mainsream, the better.  The only drawback, and it is a big one, is that since those who want to practice jihad in Redneckville are easy to pick out as "not from around here".  However, we usually do not ask personal questions of newcomers as that would be considered impolite.

Our open and tolerant society allows this kind of behavior to go mostly unreported, and gives these bin-laden wannabe's the ability to use our laws and civilities against us.  Even as we point to these strangers and say hey, who are those guys, we also say live and let live, going about our somnambulent ways until we hear the crack of automatic weapons and the shouts of "Allahu Akbar!"

We will see more and more jihadist activity in Oregon, and other states as well in the coming months and years.  Islamists have but one goal: take what Allah promised them in any way possible.

Not here, not in my Oregon.

NY court upholds man's Ore. terror camp conviction

NEW YORK (AP) -- A federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld the conviction of a Lebanese-born Swede who was sentenced to life in prison for plotting to open a terrorism training camp in Oregon to help al-Qaida.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan on Wednesday issued an order finding that Oussama Kassir had a fair trial when he was convicted in 2009 of supporting al-Qaida by trying to help open the camp in Bly, Ore., a tiny community of just a few hundred residents.

Prosecutors said Kassir, who's in his 40s, tried to set up the camp in late 1999 and early 2000 so al-Qaida could take advantage of relaxed U.S. gun laws and train European recruits for Islamic militancy. They said he "trained men to become terrorists on American soil," provided lessons on how to alter an assault rifle so it could launch a grenade and told witnesses in Bly he supported Osama bin Laden.

A cooperating witness, James Ujaama, who pleaded guilty in 2007 to providing material support to terrorists by loading programs onto Taliban computers during a trip to Afghanistan, testified he tried to create the training camp on 360 acres of land. He said the terrain, with small trees and rocks, and widely varying temperatures were similar to Afghanistan.

But the camp never really got off the ground. Ujaama said he visited the property only three times, the last time with Kassir, who traveled from London expecting to find lots of weapons and men eager to be trained.

Ujaama said Kassir became angry when he saw nothing had materialized.

Obviously a better PR firm is needed.
