Iran says it is against Islam to have nuclear weapons

Oh this is rich.  Now I know some of you will read this and say see, Islam prohibits nukes so now you can shut up a little about evil Iran and how they want to use nuclear bombs to take over the world.

Maybe.  With Shia theology driving Iranian leadership and their history of making statements saying basically, if you are not one of us, either convert, become a slave or die it is unlikely this statement from Iran will hold any water.

Remember the concepts of taqiyya and kitman, and that they probably are in play in this instance.  Those rose-colored glasses wearing crowd may want to believe that Iran poses no threat but history and ideology shows otherwise.

Iranian minister: Islam opposes nukes

The development or use of nuclear weapons contradicts Iran's religious principles and would violate the tenets of Islam, the country's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says.

"Islamic Republic authorities have reiterated that nuclear arms are against the country's religious principals," Salehi said in an interview...

It would be nice to see Qur'anic sourcing for his position, or any hadith contradicting Shia requirements to bring about the next apocalypse.  Wait for it...
