Death of free speech report: Saudi Arabian King wants UN to pass blasphemy laws

He said "I demand a UN resolution that condemns any country or group that insults religions and prophets" which, ironically would place Saudi Arabia in those exact cross-hairs.  Their school textbooks are full of hate and demonization of both Christians and Jews, thus they are guilty of what they propose.  I wonder if anyone has pointed this out to the dear King.  I wonder if anyone dares to.

Saudi king urges UN action against religious insults

AFP - Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on Saturday demanded a UN resolution condemning insults on monotheistic religions after a low-budget film produced in the US sparked deadly protests last month.

"I demand a UN resolution that condemns any country or group that insults religions and prophets," he said during a meeting at his palace with religious figures and heads of hajj delegations in the Mina valley where pilgrims were performing final rituals of hajj.

"It is our duty and that of every Muslim to protect Islam and defend the prophets."

Nothing mentioned of Jesus, Buddha, Hindus, Sikhs, Moses, Jews or any other religion or religious entity, only Islam and Muhammad.  Where's the interfaith dialogue and the bridge-building we keep hearing about that is part and parcel of Islam?
