Photo evidence of Flotilla participants on the Marmara were equipped with guns

I too wonder why it has taken this long for the photos to be released, but now that they are out, it is but more evidence that these "Humanitarian" flotillas have but one purpose: agitate Israel and then blame Israel for reacting.  The facts are that these groups of ships, if they were really bent on peace and helping the refugees, would dock where the Israelis ask them to, unload their cargo and then leave.  To follow procedure, especially as Israel must be vigilant when it comes to the importation of items for use against them, is the best and only way for the aid to get to those who need it.  By deliberately running the blockade, the obvious outcome will be a confrontation, and we know that they never end with a celebration of an Israeli victory.

Flotilla Photos Vindicate Israel

Only now, more than a year after the violent flotilla incident in which terrorists tried to run Israel's blockade of Gaza, has it been conclusively shown that some of the "humanitarian" flotilla participants were armed with guns.

Photos of passengers on the Marmara ship sporting the guns were published on Tuesday in the Yediot Acharonot daily. It is not clear why the photos were not published until now.

The flotilla, ostensibly organized to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza, was organized by the Turkish organization IHH, of radical Islamic anti-Western orientation and with a history of ties with and fund-raising for Hamas.

When the ships neared Gaza some 13 months ago, Israel warned them not to attempt to breach its legal blockade of Gaza. However,  the Mavi Marmara ship did not adhere to the orders, and IDF commandos were forced to board the ship and stop it by force. They did not expect to be attacked by the humanitarian aboard the ship, but when they were – including being set upon with metal pipes, chains and knives, having a soldier nearly thrown overboard, and others briefly taken prisoner – they were able to fight back, killing nine of their attackers, including five known terrorists.

The incident led to international headlines for weeks afterwards. The flotilla backers consistently claimed that they had only peaceful intentions – now belied by the new photos.

Peaceful intentions...through the barrel of a gun.

I have to wonder how desperately these "Palestinian refugees" are in need of humanitarian aid? The biggest Palestinian shopping mall (3 stories) is scheduled to open in the Gaza Strip in mid-June of 2011.
This will be the second shopping mall to open in the Gaza Strip in a year. Last July, Palestinians opened a two-story mall that included a supermarket, international clothing stores, a food court, beauty products, a children’s playground, restaurants, coffee shops, a large cinema and entertainment venues geared towards children.
Doesn't sound as though these people are in need of rescue or aid.

"It is not clear why the photos were not published until now" - no, you'd expect Mossad to learn Photoshop more quickly than that. As for the claim there were 'known terrorists' on the Gaza flotilla, this is just like the phrase 'anti-Semites' - it means critics of Israeli war crimes.
