Occupy Tehran: Jew-hating and religious democracy

Wouldn't you know, Islam has hijacked the Occupy Wall Street movement, sort of. The students demonstrations in Tehran do shout the usual slogans heard by the OWS crowd, including "Death to Israel" but amidst all the Iranian roar there is a voice which embodies more hatred and enmity than any other, that of a student named Ramin Shamsaii who said “...real democracy is only realized under the umbrella of religious democracy...so long as religious democracy is not established the world will remain in darkness"

"Religious democracy" from a Western perspective is what America was founded to escape from, not to run towards. We believe that anything having the word "democracy" attached to it must be a good thing, and if a country has a "constitution" there must be the same principles and ethics attached. Virtually every Islamic country has a constitution, and the first or second amendment is always that Islam is the only recognized religion (state sanctioned) and sharia is the only source of jurisprudence. How this equates to a functional democratic government is something yet to be explained by those promoting that line of thinking.

I will fight to my last breath against a "Religious Democracy" here in America, everyone who stands behind freedom and justice needs to do the same. If you're thinking about making the case that Christian or Catholic of Jewish power is really behind a "Religious Democracy" here in the US, please show where there is a concerted effort by those who lead each religion to take control of the planet, through the use of texts and tenets of that religion. Islam is the only theology which specifically sanctions warfare against unbelievers unless they convert or pay the jizya (dhimmi tax) to stay alive (9-29).

Tehran students hold demo in solidarity with Occupy Wall St

TEHRAN –A number of students from universities across Tehran held a demonstration outside the Swiss Embassy on Saturday to express their solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Iran and the United States do not have diplomatic relations, and the Swiss Embassy in Tehran hosts the U.S. Interests Section in Iran.
The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of the protesters and denounced the crackdown on the protests.

The students also set the flags of the United States and the Zionist regime on fire and chanted “Down with the United States,” “Death to Israel,” “Down with Capitalism,” and other slogans.

A number of students also delivered speeches at the event, in which they said that true democracy could only be established under the banner of religion.

They also said that the Occupy Wall Street movement has been inspired by the tide of popular uprisings rolling across the Middle East and North Africa region.

The people of the United States have become fed up with moral corruption of the country’s officials, they added.

Analysts say demonstrations in Western countries which followed the Occupy Wall Street movement mark the start of a new uprising against the greed of the capitalism.

Ramin Shamsaii, a student who was present at the demonstration, said liberal democracy is intended to “deceive” people. Shamsaii said “real democracy is only realized under the umbrella of religious democracy.”

He added so long as religious democracy is not established “the world will remain in darkness.”

Mahdi Firouzkouhi, also a participant at the demonstration, said the history of the U.S. is associated with the murder of thousands of people across the world, an indirect reference to the U.S. wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

Would it have been Islamophobic to reference the 270 million murdered in the name of Allah since 622AD?

Firouzkouhi added, “Today we are witnessing the collapse of dictators allied to the United States… and this country has not option other than acknowledging defeat in the face of people’s vigilance.”

Actually, no. There was a debate about it. American ended up with a secular constitution and a religious population. Maybe it would be better the other way round.

'Death to Israel' is common in the Occupy Wall St. protests? Come off it. The left is as incapable of challenging Jewish power as the rest of America.

Jay, Jay, Jay, you and your campaign of DISINFORMATION! Tiresome and just plain false.
In ALL of the Occupy Wall Street protests, there have been signs and posters visibly displayed calling for the death of Israel (and other various bon mots of anti-Semitism). Signs calling for the destruction of the Jewish state are plainly displayed for all to see.
Just because Islam (and Muslims like yourself) tell us that "black is white and white is now black", not all of us are willing to back down, put our collective tails between our legs, apologize for our "Islamaphobia" and say that indeed the Emperors new clothing is gorgeous.
