A-Shabab in Somalia: "...we don't know where Islam says women can't work. They have taken these ideologies from outside Somalia, from the Taliban and other militants..."

From the Horn of Africa and one of the 57 homes of the "religion of peace" we see yet again another example of how those youths in Somalia have Islam all wrong.  Don't they know that Allah teaches tolerance and the rights of all women within the public sphere?

I guess they are another bunch of of ignorant Islamophobes who misunderstand their religion.

They probably forgot the sura which calls for the beating of women if they misbehave (4-34), or how women only get half the inheritance that a man gets (4-11), or how there must be four witnesses in order to prove rape (4-15) or that when a man has the "urge" he is mandated to "..go to her as you would tilth your fields.."(2-223).

Somali women say Islamists becoming more draconian

(Reuters) - Women living in areas controlled by Somalia's Islamists say they are increasingly the target of more draconian rules meted out by the rebels bent on enforcing their ideologies.

Read that as: Islamists bent on enforcing sharia.

In the latest decree by the al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab group that governs most of southern Somalia, women in the seaside town of Kismayu have been banned from carrying out barter trade with the male crews of ships calling at the port.

The women have also been told they cannot shake any male's hands in public, travel on their own, sell anything or work in an office.

Maybe they saw the movie "9 to 5"

"A woman cannot be seen with a man from another country at the port. The punishment for any woman caught near the port or foreign vessels will be arrest," a senior al Shabaab commander said in a statement this week.
