Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani of Pakistan says that all religions are equal in Islam, and that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and that it is not spread by the sword.
Stop laughing and read what he says. Sitting down. Then realize that this message is one which is bought into by millions of people, the media, political pundits, Muslim community leaders, pseudo-journalists, Islamic apologists and others who desperately want Islam to be that benign, open and accepting religion, just like Christianity.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Thursday said that Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance which teaches its followers to respect all religions of the world.The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to a group of parliamentarians who called on him at his chamber in Parliament House.He said that Islam was not spread by force rather the message was disseminated through the policy of religious tolerance of Sufis and Aulia Allah.

Unfortunately, Islam and Muslims are being bracketed with extremism and sectarianism which is an attempt to tarnish the image of Muslim Ummah.
And who is doing this bracketing, Gilani? Those dirty Islamophobes, or Muslims who quote the Qur'an and hadiths as they try to blow up planes, or kill fellow soldiers, or try to detonate a bomb at an airport? Oh wait, it must be those misguided Mennonites who have interpreted the Bible all wrong. He mentioned that Pakistan is an Islamic state and the government is taking all appropriate steps to protect rights of the minorities.
An impossible task, given the dictates of Muhammad through the Qur'an.
“We are also formulating policies to alleviate poverty and redress the grievances of the masses in accordance with the teachings of Islam.”
There is only one way to live: through the teachings of Islam.
