The Duplicity of CBS

We know the MSM is more than a bit biased, but to cover up a crime to protect some ethereal principle is beyond the pale.  When it is regarding Islam and Muslims, the dhimmi factor is a real possibility.  The problem is that we will see more of this as Islam becomes more demanding, and we become more accomodating.

Diana West points out at
Townhall.com that CBS covered up that, as a crowd beat and raped their reporter Lara Logan, they were shouting, “Jew! Jew!”

Ms. Logan isn’t Jewish, but in typical American liberal tradition, the seriousness of the charge trumps the facts of the case.

CBS has a vested interest in comparing the Egyptian street mobs to 1960s Woodstock without the guitars, but the ugly truth was exposed by the New York Post. I’m surprised Katie Couric didn’t say:
“You know, if you close your eyes, you could see the ghost of Jimmie Hendrix and Janis Joplin floating over the crowd in Tahrir Square.”

West tells her story at TownHall.com.

But in this singular Logan case we’ve seen both. First, only after news queries indicated the story was breaking did CBS on Tuesday release a brief rap sheet on the Friday crime. We were told of Logan’s accidental separation from her crew in the crowd. The prolonged assault by over 200 people “whipped into a frenzy.” The rescue by a group of women and 20 soldiers.

What CBS didn’t mention — what was later attributed to an unnamed network source — was that as the thugs assaulted the 39-year-old journalist and mother of two, they shouted, “Jew! Jew!”

This essential piece of the story, this clue to the hysterical, obsessive anti-Semitism of the Islamic world including Egypt, was broken by the New York Post. It has sparked little comment, which in itself is worth comment.
