Jordan usually doesn't make this type of news, but in light of the recent unrest in the Middle East it is not surprising that they would stir up their own controversy. The banning of nightclubs to combat prostitution is in line with Islamic teachings, and will serve the interests of the ruling Islamists and jihadists only. Clamp down on anything deemed un-Islamic, and Allah will be pleased.

Shutting Down Nightclubs and Combatting Prostitution Demanded by Jordan Muslim Clerics
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - More than 100 Jordanian Muslim clerics demanded the government shut down all nightclubs in the country and combat prostitution, in a statement issued on Wednesday.
"We demand the government close all nightclubs, which work under the pretext of promoting tourism," 109 clerics, among them a former cabinet minister, MPs, Muslim leaders, university professors and mosque preachers, said in the joint statement.
I did not realize there were so many misunderstandes of Islam in Jordan.
"We also demand the authorities combat prostitution and brothels, and introduce laws that fight all anti-Islamic and unethical acts which destroy our society," the statement said.
Read that as: anything not sanctioned by the Qur'an, sharia law and the hadiths and sunna of Muhammad.
