The Jihadist Grinch in Iraq

How blind for us to have believed that what we did in Iraq would bring them any closer to the western ideal of democracy.  Even with elections, ballots, a so-called free press and all those purple fingers which, I admit I supported way back when, Iraq turned out to be not much more than a failed attempt(again) of our best intentions.

The Iraq constitution, of which so much was made has, as it's first amendment that sharia law is the highest law of the land, and that the official religion is Islam.  To call it a constitution is deceiving, if viewed in the context of what the term means to the west.  As long as Iraq is an official Islamic country, folllowing the word of Allah, the story below will continue to happen, at a greater and greater pace.

Enjoy Christmas to the fullest, as there are those who cannot, due to Islamic doctrine and the word of Allah.

KIRKUK, Iraq – No decorations, no midnight Mass. Even an appearance by Santa Claus has been nixed after Iraq's Christian leaders called off Christmas celebrations amid new al-Qaida threats on the tiny community still terrified from a bloody siege on a Baghdad church.

Even Santa draws sniper fire...

"Nobody can ignore the threats of al-Qaida against Iraqi Christians," said Chaldean Archbishop Louis Sako in Kirkuk. "We cannot find a single source of joy that makes us celebrate. The situation of the Christians is bleak."

Indeed it is bleak.  The plight of Christians across the Middle East is perilous at best, many have fled, and more are trying to find homes and asylum as you read this.

Our prayers and thoughts are for those who suffer at the hands of those who follow the words and deeds of Muhammad.
