In the RG today (Dec 11, 2010) in the City/Region section there is this article.
Read it carefully, as it is filled with more of those "huh?" moments.
Notice the always present spin and obfuscation, missing facts and the PC babblespeak of LCC once again.  I have high regard for Greg Bolt having read his articles oiver the years, yet I see a leaning in his reporting which bothers me.  It is funny that LCC has made all these statements to the press and the media, yet still refuse to contact me in any meaningful way.. Now, of course they cannot talk directly to me, they must go through the ACLJ.  Notice how this, and the first RG article made sure to mention the connection between the ACLJ and Pat Robertson, as if that is supposed to reflect on me personally.  There was no other reason to mention Robertson's name except to achieve that goal.
A cheap shot if you ask me.
As long as LCC maintains their position, the more obvious their desperation becomes.  They are afraid of Islam, afraid of it being spoken of in any way other than rainbows, unicorns and peanut butter winkys.  The administration at LCC are proponents of "lets all get along by ignoring what we are afraid of, and never speaking of it again."
Fear of what Islam might do in retribution if they do not cave in to the demand sof CAIR drives the surreal behavior of LCC.  The speaking of uncomfortable truths, whatever those may be, is not to be allowed to infect those who choose to hear it. So says LCC, and so says CAIR.
Their answer to all this, have a credit class taught by a non-Muslim come spring semester is silly.  The implication is that since this teachers class is for credit, then his course material must be politically correct and within the free speech rules LCC admin has laid down.  I wonder if there is a former student of this Prof. Colby who would speak on his course.  If there is, contact me at act4americaor@yahoo.com.
Notice how this Prof. Colby is from the UofO?  Doesn't  LCC have a credit religious studies course available with another professor?  I believe they do, so why bring in someone else?  What can Prof. Colby do that the current professor cannot do?  Hmmmm...
The next few days will tell the tale.  The decisions which LCC makes in all this, as I have pointed out previously will reverberate throughout academia and will impact many aspects of learning and our free speech rights.  This may be a long and winding road, but in the end, justice in the name of free speech, free exchange of ideas will win.
God bless everyone.
