As Steven Tyler pointed out, it's the same old somg and dance, only this time the beat goes on in Balltimore. You could almost make a template, insert names, dates and places then voila! Instant jihad narrative. However, in the interest of fair play and presenting all the news that fits, let's do a review of the facts as they have played out so far.
First we hear of the arrest of the arrest of a Muslim convert who, through the bravery and cunning, once again, of the FBI. Accused of plotting to blow up a military recruitment center in Baltimore County because, sources report, he was angry at the US military because of their "war" on Muslims. I guess Antonio Martinez, aka Muhammed Hussein never got the memo from bin-Laden and Zawahiri declaring war on the west back in 1993.
CBS News reports that his friends of Muhammed Hussein said he had been "mouthing off" about attacking the military, but his friends just backed off and said they wanted nothing to do with his statements. Did those friends go to the FBI or local law enforcment to tell them what they heard? Since the Portland jihadist attempt at mass murder, wouldn't you think these upstanding citizens would report this potential murderer? We don't know, but we would like to.
The FBI, in their operation, were told by Hussein that he thought of nothing but jihad. Will someone please explain to poor Mr. Hussein how he misunderstands Islam, has it's tenets and texts all wrong and that he really, really wants interfaith dialogue and bridge-building, otherwise we might see one of these misunderstandings explode in our faces. Although, he is following sura 9, verse 5 which demands that you "slay the pagans where you find them" and it seems he found them at a military recruitment center.
As usual, Muhammed Hussein posted his rants, making public his following of Islamic doctrine and belief in the power of Allah. In Sept of 2010 he said we wanted to see violendce agains those who oppress Muslims, and in Oct 2010 he said that he hates any person who "...opposes Allah and his prophet." All this on Facebook, and all right there for all to see. I suppose that he could be referring to the Allah of Quaker Oats fame, or maybe the Pillsbury DoughAllah, but I really am not sure.
Was he just a poor, misguided boy, barely 21 who one day suffered a bout of "sudden jihad syndrome" and decided he had to kill? Maybe his own words will shed some light. The confidential source, or CS reports that "Martinez wrote that he wanted to go to Pakistan or Afghanistan, that it was his dream to be among the ranks of the mujahideen, and that he hoped Allah would open a door for him because all he thinks about is jihad. The CS provided copies of the communications to the FBI," Sounds like he wanted the chance to get his 72 dark-eyed houris and the everflowing water and wine in paradise. As the plot unfolded, Hussein was given numerous chances to back out, as was "Mo-mo" in Portland, yet he persisted in his goal of killing kuffirs in the name of Allah.
Now comes the strange part: he was confused about faith, and needed guidance from somewhere above. Former girlfriend Alisha Legrand said this
"He said he tried the Christian thing. He just really didn't understand it," she said, adding that he seemed to have his life under control after converting to Islam...." So he did not understand Christianity yet found his life in control after converting to Islam. Which sura was it, Hussein which gave you the inner peace you were looking for, 9.29, 9.5, 9.111, or was it just the love you felt from your Muslim brothers?
His mother was not able to control, nor understand his conversion, a good thing as Hussein dug his grave even deeper in conversations between him and mom, conversations which the FBI listened in on. At one point Hussein said ""She wants me to be like everybody else, being in school, working," and also pointed out that "My wife understands. ... I told her I want to fight jihad. ... She said she doesn't want to stop me." Will the misunderstanding of Islam never end?
Hearing of the foiled Portland Christmas tree lighting ceremony jihad attempt, he said to the FBI informant "I'm not falling for no b.s.," and yet somehow he did, and made the decision to go ahead with his plan to murder.
In the days leading up to the detonation, Hussein reiterated his support for his jihad, and at one point soothed the concerns of the informant by telling him that he felt no pressure to do this, saying "I came to you about this, brother."...
How many times will this happen before Muslims wake up and take Islam back from those who define it as has Muhammed Hussein? When the time comes that the pundits, progressives, apologists and all manner of cackling nabobs concede that it is, without a doubt Islamic doctrine which drives the acts of Mr. Hussein, look to the sky. There might be pigs flying. If that insulted Muslims, I have a cartoon for you also you might not like.

You're far more likely to be killed by a fellow American, drunk or not, or hit by lightning, or even die from radiation exposure at the new airport machines, than being killed by a Muslim terrorist. So I ask you, Barry, when are you going to take responsibility for all the American murderers, drunk drivers -- not to mention the countless deaths of civilians overseas by reckless American or American-sponsored violence?
As I already explained to you, mainstream Muslims have spoken loudly and acted against terrorism. There are literally thousands of condemnations by prominent scholars, many prominent initiatives like the Topkapi Declaration and A Common Word, and many cases where Muslims have thwarted terrorist attempts. But you ignore this plain reality, because sitting in your trailer park you'd feel awfully small and bored without The Great Islamic Bogeyman to give your life "meaning".
It's so typical of leftists and Muslims to turn a blind eye to the civil rights injustices that are rampant in the "Muslim world," while it focuses solely on policing what it perceives as a dangerous epidemic of "Islamophobia."
Radical Islamic Terrorism is not merely an aberration of a small group of "violent psychopaths," nor is it based on mental instablilty, it is based on an ideology derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah, and collective aggression is the element of Islam.
The theology and legal system of Islam codified by Sharia with Muhammad as the role model is nothing more than a system of legally-mandated violence and hatred.
Before you get your panties in a wad, I'm speaking of Islamic doctrine, the supremacist ideology of what the devout Muslim is to do if they are truly following the example of their prophet.
* The penalty for Kufr (unbelief) = DEATH
c2.5 (3) and unbelief (Kufr), sins which put one beyond the pale of Islam (as discussed at o8.7) and necessitate stating the Testification of Faith (Shahada)…
f1.3 Someone {Kafir} (who knows Islamic Jurisprudence) or denies something…which there is scholarly consensus…is executed for his unbelief…
o4.17 There is no indemnity for killing a non-Muslim {Kafir}…
o8.7 (7) to deny any verse of the Koran or anything which by scholarly consensus (def: b7) belongs to it, or to add a verse that does not belong to it;
(2) to intend to commit unbelief, even if in the future…
(3) to speak words that imply unbelief…
(20) or to deny that Allah intended the Prophet’s message (Allah bless him and give him peace) to be the religion followed by the entire world (dis: w4.3-4) (al-Hadiyya al-Ala’iyya (y4), 423-24)

You are right, the chances of being murdered by a jihadist are a lot less than what you mention. So what? Those examples do not change the doctrine which drives some Muslims to murder non-Muslims, or even their own because Allah told them so. Those prominent scholars may interpret doctine in a more moderate way, and indeed believe they have found the true nature os Islam. That is all well and good, but virtually powerless in the definition of Islam as upheld by the four schools of Isloamic jurisprudence, as well as Al-Azhar University in Cairo, and the recognized and accepted Shia scholar the Grand Ayatollah Sistani of Iran.
As to the many cases of Muslims thwarting their co-religionists, you might want to see this http://www.investigativeproject.org/2390/mpac-stats-not-supported-by-facts and then tell me whether Muslims are really trying to root out the jihadists in their midst.
And then there is that old boogyman, the ad hominum attack. I live in a trailer park, thus my research is to be dismissed. Would it help if I dragged a 100 dollar bill through the park to see which toothless slut puts down her third baby and the Bud Lite to run after it?
When you actually have any Islamic doctrine, text or tenet which shows that Islam is the religion of peace you so desperately want it to be, please post it here.
The initiatives I've mentioned are fully supported by Al-Azhar, the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence, and several Shi'a scholars. The problem is that you simply don't understand how Islamic jurisprudence works, having "learned" Islam from Mullah Robert Spencer, who is little more than a nasty troll and who associates quite openly with fascists.
Certainly they are immensely more prominent than the unknown, anonymous, marginal people you've chosen to feature. Who is the guy holding the placard? How do you know he's actually Muslim? Does it not matter to you that he was part of a tiny crowd, one that isn't even allowed in British mosques? Would you accept some nutty Koresh-type American as representative of Western society? Why don't you instead post a photo of Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad Winter, who is perhaps the most influential British Muslim and who Muslims the world over listen to on a weekly basis?
I suggest that you subscribe to Shaykh Murad's podcast and listen to it yourself, if you want to hear erudite Islamic doctrines, texts, and tenets which eloquently show Islam is a religion of peace. And read "A Common Word", which is also the work of prominent and definitive scholars. Or read Huston Smith or Kabir Helminski or America's best-selling spiritual poet, Jalaluddin Rumi. I could go on and on and on, but it won't matter until your heart is receptive and your mind is open.
As for the "Investigative Project" -- you might want to read The Tennessean newspaper's exposé of Steve Emerson, whose deceitfulness both in terms of representing Islam and in terms of his tax arrangements are now fairly well-known. Remember that this is the 'expert' who pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on swarthy Arab men.
I didn't actually say there's anything wrong with simply living in a trailer park. In a way, it's quite admirable, far better than living in a palatial home which you don't need. But clearly, there is some void in your life which you're filling with an irrational hatred of Islam. If you can find it within yourself to overcome this hatred, I can easily foresee a genuine friendship with you.

Inscribed on the prophet's sword:
Forgive him who wrongs you; join him who cuts you off;
do good to him who does evil to you;
and speak the truth even if it be against yourself.
The sword that you mention and its inscription were actually captured as war booty.
The quote: “Forgive him who wrongs you; join him who cuts you off; do good to him who does evil to you; and speak the truth even if it be against yourself” was not inscribed on his sword…
What verse in the Koran commands Muslims to show love, mercy and compassion towards non-Muslims?
