Clinton sees rising discrimination against women in Egypt

Where would she get such an idea?  Does she really believe that discrimination against her sisters in Islam is a new phenomenon, and if so I would like to see exactly when it was identified and labeled.  She is as clueless about Islam as anyone could be, yet she continues to speak as if her words carried gravitas.

Hilllary was more fun during her husbands years in the WH.

Clinton warns intolerance threatens Arab revolts

BERLIN -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is warning that rising intolerance toward women and religious minorities threatens to hijack democratic transitions around the Arab world and spread violent extremism.

Clinton told an award ceremony in the German capital on Friday that she was disturbed by recent developments in post-revolt Egypt in which women and Coptic Christians were singled out for attacks and abuse. She said such incidents test the unity of pro-democracy demonstrators whose peaceful protests ousted Egypt's authoritarian president and could fracture the reform movement.

Clinton said she feared similar backsliding elsewhere in the Mideast and stressed it was critical for Egyptians and other Arabs whose nations are in the throes of change to resist intolerance and demand that their new leaders embrace open and inclusive governments.

Hilary is indeed clueless, but in the opposite way to what this post claims. She doesn't understand that millions of women really do believe in Islamic attitudes to gender. She thinks inside every woman is a loud-mouthed Americans trying to get out. As a result, she is 'liberating' Muslim countries by bombing them.

Oh Jay I know that you are a Jew hating radical Islamist but now your misogyny is showing! You have no clue as to what Muslim WOMEN truly think and feel, and I doubt that you have a clue as to what ANY woman thinks or feels inside the confines of her own heart. When your very life depends on NOT angering the men around you, when your life depends on never acting in a such a way as to draw attention to yourself or cause any male around you to even suspect that you may harbor the slightest "un-Islamic" or "un-Quranic" thought, capitulation is a necessary and life saving coping strategy. I remember my days wearing the black niqab, abaya, burqa, and khimar in 120 degree heat. Gee funny the women around me, all Muslim, all native women, sweated, complained and suffocated, and we commiserated about the heat rashes that covered our arms, legs, bodies and necks. We also had to fear the religious police (all men) lest some part of our body became exposed during a breeze. WOMEN had to endure the beatings of men (religious police), not from one man but from a group of intolerant, club wielding, woman hating men for breaking some minor point of the the "dress code" (gee were my bangs showing). Women are routinely murdered in the Middle East when they are the victims of rape. No Jay you haven't a CLUE as to what women think and endure in the Middle East or anywhere else. No one has suggested that YOU have your genitals removed to preserve your "purity". You can walk around in a short sleeved shirt and thin cotton pants and experience the ecstasy of a breeze. Women under Shariah can not. I'm sorry I see nothing religious or good about marrying 6 year old little girl to a 55 year old man. Not all American women are "loud mouthed" men hating feminists. Most of us are just average women, women who want to be good wives, good mothers, good sisters, good daughters, good students, good workers and good neighbors.
While I normally eschew feminist writings there is a definition of misogyny that I rather like: "Misogyny is a central part of sexist prejudice and ideology and, as such, is an important basis for the oppression of females in male-dominated societies. Misogyny is manifested in many different ways, from jokes to pornography to violence to the self-contempt women may be taught to feel for their own bodies."
Another definition of misogyny states:
"Though most common in men, misogyny also exists in and is practiced by women against other women or even themselves. Misogyny functions as an ideology or belief system that has accompanied patriarchal, or male-dominated, societies for thousands of years and continues to place women in subordinate positions with limited access to power and decision making. Aristotle contended that women exist as natural deformities or imperfect males. Ever since, women in various cultures have internalized their role as societal scapegoats..."
No Jay you don't have one damn clue as to what any woman, and especially any woman living in the Middle East, really feels. YOU have never had to live in fear.
