Imam Rauf to speak at UCLA

Imam Rauf, the father of the ground zero mosque and promoter of sharia in the US is speaking at UCLA this Thursday, along with Reza Aslan, famous Muslim poet and supporter of Iran. 

This should be a very interesting night.  If there is anyone who goes, and can send me a report with pictures if possible, I will post it here.

Celebrated Imam to Speak at UCLA

Iman Feisal Abdul Rauf, known for his efforts to build healthy relationships between the West and Islamic communities, will speak at Royce Hall tonight.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, Chairman of the Cordoba Initiative, which seeks to develop projects that mend conflict between Western and Islamic communities, is scheduled to be the subject of a Q & A segment at Royce Hall on the campus of UCLA Wednesday night.

The event was planned long before the recent death of Osama Bin Laden, the  terrorist and leader of al-Qaida, the extremist group responsible for the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City and on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. 

The Cordoba Initiative, according to the group's website, was founded by Adbul Rauf in 2004, and promotes “improving understanding and building trust among people of all cultures and faith traditions."

As former imam of Masjid al-Farah, a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City, Abdul Rauf and his organization are often confronted with issues revolving around extremism and radicalism across the globe, as well as the depiction of Islam as a violent and extremist culture.
