Goldstone Report retraction basis for US demand for the UN to trash it

Once Richard Goldstone retracted some major points in his report by saying if he knew then what he knows now the report would have been completely different, it was up to the US to demand the UN get rid of the report, saying it presented a continued bias aginst Israel.

Well Mr. Obvious, what made this conclusion crop up in that little head of yours?

A good start to counter the disgusting demonization of Israel, but not enough and long overdue.

US Senate wants UN to retract report accusing Israel of war crimes after author backtracks
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate is calling on the U.N. Human Rights Council to revoke a report that accused Israel of war crimes after the study's author retracted his conclusions.

In a unanimous vote late Thursday, the Senate backed a nonbinding resolution sponsored by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat, and Republican James Risch. pressing for the council to rescind the report. Richard Goldstone, who wrote the study, has backtracked on his claims.

The Senate resolution also urges Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to deal with the damage to Israel's reputation caused by the report.

Gillibrand said Goldstone's admission of error was not enough to undo the damage and libel against Israel and pressed for the Council to act. Risch said continued use of the report by the U.N. shows a bias against Israel.

So... why did Richard Goldstone, a Jewish South African judge and former anti-apartheid campaigner, condemn the Hannukah massacre of 2008 in the first place? And what made him change his mind? Isn't it likely that he was trying to tell the truth, but after much pressure from the Jewish community, he capitulated and retracted? His retraction is ridiculous - why would he, after a year and a half, change his mind? Has he visited Gaza, and discovered that what he thought was white phosphorus was candy floss? No, it's tribal pressure. Goldstone's turnaround illustrates Gilad Atzmon's argument that it's not just 'Zionism' which is the problem, it's the worldwide Jewish community's internal discipline.

As for US politicians, they called on the UN to rescind the report as soon as it was written. Nothing has changed. What needs explaining is US grovelling to Israel, a country which is nothing but an albatross around Uncle Sam's neck.

God you are SO predictable Jay. It is always the Jews, always Zionism's fault. You never comment on some atrocity committed by Muslims, whether it be the stoning of a 14 year old rape victim or the murder of a Jewish infant. Nope to you, no matter what the question the answer is always the same, "it's the Jews". You are so very, very tiresome Jay.

'A Christian Woman Who Has Lived Under Shariah' is well aware that I have answered her objection that I never criticize Muslim atrocities. In the first place, it's not true - I just criticized on this site Muslim extremists who allegedly murdered a pro-Palestine activist named Vittorio Arrigoni. Secondly, as I have told her before, I spend more time criticising Zionist crimes because a. Americans are quite aware of Muslim crimes already, and b. American doesn't fund the Sudan, it funds Israel.
